Oh, it's the Season 2 winner, Matt who I saw in the photo and who looked like he had gained his weight back.

Hmmm so it may be a benefit to be voted off fairly early in the show. You'd have to learn to lose weight on your own rather than the methods on the ranch

This is the tale of 2 contestants on the season one show of the Biggest Loser. Contestant number 1, Andrea Baptiste, started off the season one show weighing in at 215 lbs and lost a remarkable 56 lbs. While she was not the “winner”, she has lost an additional 8 lbs since the show. Contestant number 2 and season one winner, Ryan Benson , “won” by losing 122 lbs. However, 3 years later Ryan has gained back most of the weight and weighs close to 300 lbs.

Cilla, I finished reading the new Titanic book.

What did you think?

I thought the book was carefully laid out, the theory was explained in enough detail to make sense, without overwhelming the reader, and I enjoyed the author's style.  I think that this book does probably reveal the missing piece of the puzzle that has lasted for 96 years.

Now, having said that, I was horrified by the author's lack of knowledge or research into previously known facts about the sinking; especially considering the pages of sources that he references at the end of the book.  Unfortunately, it is a little difficult to accept this bold new theory as fact, when the author doesn't know or seem to care about errors that he states as facts.

Wednesday evening greetings!  With 3 days behind us, I am more and more pleased with the choice they made for my replacement.  She asks very astute questions and seems comfortable talking with new people.  One more day behind-the-scenes, then she gets to shadow me Friday on my last day of information-waitressing.

With all those episodes of THE MOD SQUAD which BK has watched,  My QUESTION for ASK BK DAY is:

Did you notice Jack Stillman, aka Jack Wrangler in one of those episodes?

I ask because I've heard that the dear Mr. Wrangler is seriously ill with emphysema and in a care home.
I only recently watched the documentary JACK WRANGLER: ANATOMY OF AN ICON and found Mr. Wrangler to quite charming, open and honest.
I'm planning on sending him a "Thinking of You" card through a series of mutual friends.

I'd have to know which episodes.

Back from various and sundried errands.  Went to Costco and got three big food platters - sandwiches, pinwheels, and some seafood salad platter, and a big chocolate cake.

Also had a couple of packages today, including a Japanese import CD of an album I've been hoping would come out on CD since the advent of CD - Michel Legrand's big symphonic suites from Umbrellas of Cherbourg and The Go Between - on Columbia Records back in 1979.  It's as fab as I remembered it was.

One of the computer servers here at work went down (NOT a euphemism) for a while and it just came back up, but they're closing our building!  We can go home!  And since the administration made the decision, I don't need to use my personal "inclement weather" leave or my vacation time...it's "emergency leave," use of which is only decided by the building heads. ;D

But I have to mail a package, so that'll give me time to do it before it gets completely dark and even colder. :)

A few pictures from the store...

Let us first say that it is a wonderful year for poinsettias.

At least, it's a wonderful year for traditional poinsettias.

And then...

Someone came up with the idea of Hanukkah poinsettias...

Take a pink poinsettia, spray it with blue paint and glitter, and you have a brand new holiday tradition!

Gina, our florist, is appalled that she is having to sell these.  Der Brucer has likened them to flocked Christmas trees.  The rest of us have been shaking our heads in bewilderment.  Who comes up with these things?

Try playing the tambourine instead!

You've Got My Computer in a State - that's the power ballad from my new musical.

Doesn't one of the verses go something like:

You've got my computer in a state -
Probably one of the lower 48.
But we're now past the expiration date
And I hate
To be such an ingrate
But you've got my computer in a state.

That's the opening verse sung by the chorus dancing with laptops.
Oooh!  A laptop dance!  I'm ordering my tickets now, before the rush!

...We are not going "there" for Christmas Eve, we're going "here", instead.  Blame it all on something or other that happened during Thanksgiving when all the planning was done.  Afterthoughts led to repercussions in who was willing to do what at what risks, etc., etc.   Bottom line:  Some family members are "embarrassed" at what transpired during Thanksgiving and don't wish to witness a repeat.  Other family members are "afraid" of doing anything for "a group of us" because a certain family member may turn up and repeat his antics from Thanksgiving....
The odds are, no one had the foresight to record any of what happened and then post it on YouTube.  Drat the luck.

I saw something on the television about those painted poinsettias when I was at my sister's house. Very odd.

And the Hallelujah Chorus Gone Awry always makes me laugh. Well, cringe, then laugh.

Good Evening!

-I think I will need to "rotate" out the "gentle foaming antibacterial soap" that I bought over the weekend.  It's a seasonal scent: Fresh Evergreen.  However, after I finish washing my hands, all the comes to mind is Brut and/or Hai Karate.  It's not altogether unpleasant, but it's definitely not evergreen-y.

DR DerBrucer - It sounds like your Son-In-Law is making good time.  And I'm guessing he's taking your originally plotted route?  If so, if he wants a nice breather - a.k.a. lunch - he should either stop in Middletown or Winchester, Virginia - right off of 1-81 and 66.  Some great places to eat in both towns.

I have no idea why a blue & reddish poinsettia looks like Chanukah colors.  I'm also shaking my head.
