I'm pretty sure that they said "Get your asp over to TCM tonight" to promote their Egyptian themed evening of movies.

thanks Dan

I'm reminded now of the line from "Carry on Cleo"

Infamy infamy they've all got it in f'r me.

I'm listening to Mr Michael Ball's "Back to Bacharach" CD. He uses the same effective (to me) gimmick of choosing songs usually associated with female singers.

Wasn't there a Bacharach tribute concert somewhere recently?

Yes, in Portland, but that was a few years ago.   ;D

Maybe someone on the East Coast will pick up the idea.  Even a Hal David Tribute.

Didn't Mack David sue Jerry Herman, saying herman had stolen the tune for Hello Dolly from David's song Sunflower?  And david got a nice settlement, reportedly since Herman was under pressure to close the deal on the Hello dolly film rights.

So far the BIG snow storm expected has not happened.  G-d I hope it doesn't.  I REALLY, REALLY, don't want any snow.  I want my children home for the first time in four years.  Craig & Ioana arrive tomorrow night.

And speaking of sleep...

With the addition of the Food Network Studio tour to my schedule tomorrow, I'm going to be in for a long day.  Since I'm going to be in the 'hood, I'm going to go ahead and get my hair cut too down at Chelsea Barber - and I'm about a week overdue for a hair cut.  I'm gonna try to get down there early enough to get my hair cut before the tour, but if I have to wait for a chair during the lunch "rush" then so be it.  Then it's another afternoon of Lion King auditions, followed up by another evening at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall for a recital by the tenor, Paul Groves.

I'm really looking forward this recital.  He and his pianist, Pedja Muzijevic, will be performing song cycles by Beethoven, Britten, Fauré and Rachmaninov.  I'm especially eager to hear Britten's "Holy Sonnets of John Donne", and Fauré's "La Bonne Chanson" - they were two of my "Dream Cycles" when I was in school, ones I wanted to play and sing.  I just hope my audition session doesn't run over since the recital is at 7:30, and I'm supposed to go until 7:00.

Oh.. Where was I?

Oh, yes...

Goodnight.

Reading the posts from Michael and the suggestions from Jose and Dan makes me realise I am most certainly in a different time zone - on a different planet!

DR Tomovoz, you have no idea how often I long to go back to that planet.

Greetings one and all.. I am still alive...

I am stuck at the library for "Part Deux of Library study time after midnight"

I am hoping there are no surprises like there was the other night... Not fun to stand outside in -20 after some foolish kids pulled the fire alarm...

BTW, I think I spied bk's errant and curious cows.... They are in the library studying here!  They are mooing happily over Organic Chemistry, Calculus and Microbiolgy!

Hi all!  I'm just popping in to say "Hello".  I have to say that life can play some very funny games.

I received a phone call from a old friend of mine who has asked me out to dinner several times but each time was when I was dealing with something (like last time was the night I brought Bear home from his surgery).  I thought I would never hear from him again but he called again tonight.  We had a very pleasant conversation and he asked me to to dinner and movie with him on Saturday.  I told him that for once I didn't have any life or death situations going on in my life and I would love to go.  We both laughed and he said he would call back on Friday to find out what time we'll go out, to what movie and to what restaurant.

Great news, Danise!  Enjoy your date with him! ;D

I no sooner hung the phone up and the phone rang again.  I thought it was him calling back but it was Thelma telling me that Bill (her husband) almost died last night!  I asked her if she needed me to come to her but she said she was ok.  She's at the hospital with Bill and just wanted to let me know what had happened.

I'm floored at the timing, if nothing else.  I can't believe that not 2 minutes before I said I didn't have any life or death situations in my life right now and this happens.

Please send vibes for Bill.

Well, I must Wussburger.  I'm going upstairs to my bedroom.  I have some TV shows that I need to watch on the DVR in my bedroom (then delete from said DVR) and I will also be addressing my holiday cards (I don't have any actual Christmas cards), so good night, all.
