Obama probably won't attend because he doesn't have a leather tux.

Well, you don't need to wear the leather tux at MAL.  That's all I'm sayin'.

Good Morning! Good Afternoon!

I'm up, I'm up... But I let my monkey sleep in today.

Where does he plan to visit today?

I believe Monkey will be staying put today, since I really should stay put today and take care of some laundry and cleaning.  But things are always subject to change.

*I also want to make sure he doesn't get over-exposed right now.  The Museum of Modern Art did end up sharing my "tweet" about "Monkey at MoMA", and when I checked my emailbox this morning, I found a couple of nice comments from various people and other museums(!), as well as some professional photographers(!!?!!).  I don't want his new-found almost-celebrity to go to his head.

Monkey mops the floor perhaps?

Cool! Is there a link anywhere we can see what MOMA said about Monkey?

DR Nursie, it's the Albert Finney SCROOGE I detest, much as I like the cast. I remember seeing it and thinking that, while it wasn't a LOST HORIZON disaster, it was just a very ugly film. I probably should watch it again sometme to see if my opinion's changed. I much prefer Alastair Sim, George C Scott and Patrick Stewart adaptations.

I just ordered SCROOGE from Amazon.com; I'll rewatch it.

I meant to be generic, that of all SCROOGE & CHRISTMAS CAROL movies, the Albert Finny one is my favorite.  It is because I never liked any of the versions up until then & I enjoyed Albert Finny so much.  I think I was over exposed to the Mr. Magoo one as a child which I hated with a passion.  I wish I had read A CHRISTMAS CAROL before I ever saw it.

You hated MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL???  I am shocked and appalled!  That is my all-time favorite verson of CHRISTMAS CAROL, possibly even better than Albert Finney's SCROOGE, but not quite as good as mine.

I HATED anything with Mr. Magoo.  I am sorry I didn't get to see the best ever Scrooge.

Oh, I loved Mr. Magoo!! Mr. Magoo, you've done it again!

The other lawyer in my old office reminded me a bit of him.  Not sure why ;)

Back to work.  I really do love being alone in my office from time to time.  I've already gotten a lot accomplished.  The people I needed to talk to in other offices, with one exception, are actually working.  Since they work for the gov't I assumed they'd take a vaca day today. We always did.

They didn't really say anything about "Monkey at MoMA", they just posted this tweet:

There was a monkey loose in our galleries on New Years Day - http://tr.im/2u5k. Make sure to click thru the set of photos! (via @JoseSPiano)

And I've also tracked a couple of other Re-Tweets by other Twitterers.

*OMG!  And that Tweet was just selected by @nonprofitorgs as the Tweet of the Day!

I also discovered that my stylus had been destroyed--somewhere along the line it had "migrated" over onto the turntable, which is one of those "auto on" models and it had been "playing" the rubber pad on said turntable for quite some time.  Luckily I have a supply of replacements handy.

And does that explain that faint humming/rubbing sound you've been hearing lately?

Well, the speakers were never on, so it didn't make a noise.  I actually had discovered the tone arm on the turntable several weeks ago, and had permanently set it to the "up" position, so that even if it moves over (and Lord only knows how that happens), it wouldn't "play" the turntable.  But this was the first time I had tried to play an LP since then.  It was actually kind of funny when I got the stylus out (which was a bit of a trial)--the poor needle was completely bent back on itself.

Zentner is currently doing an ultra-cool version of Burke's Law.

BK, you need to license Si Zentner's Greatest Hits Volume 2 and release it IMMEDIATELY.  :)  (There are some two-fers out on various labels, but not this particular LP).

I feel like being an agent provocateur--I want monkey to marry chooster and the two to document their romantic adventures.

That used to be legal in Washington state. ::)

Happy second day of January 2009.

I am in the "throes" of a head/chest cold.  It began as a tickle in my throat and remained lodged there as it worsened.

I was pretty much in a stupor all day yesterday because of it.  I thought of visiting HHW.com to ask scrimshaw how to move past that, but realized he hasn't posted about having a cold.

Today I am hacking up great gobs of goop.  I'm hoping to feel better by tomorrow.

It isn't a good holiday family film without some muscle men.               ;)

As opposed to DR MBarnum's theory that any movie benefits from the addition of muscle men.

That is not a theory, but a proven fact.

I totally agree! :D

I really like Mr. Magoo as a character, but MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL was only OK when I saw it. For a couple of my friends, it's their favorite version, so I bought a used copy for a couple of dollars and really was disappointed with it. I expected to really love it, and I didn't.
