Well, back to work tomorrow.  I'm heading straight to bed after the 11:00 news.  But even then, it will probably be a struggle to fall asleep and to wake in the morning.

DR George, I emailed you Mr. B's photo.  Maybe you can make it work as you are much better at this than I am.

I'm watching "The Red Shoes" (which I've never seen before) so I didn't notice Jane's post until now...here's Danise's picture of Mr. B:

I got to the TV too late to watch TALES OF HOFFMANN on TCM, so I played IT ALL CAME TRUE instead.  Cute movie, though the script probably could have used a little tightening and it's slightly misguided in it's handling of the Humphrey Bogart character.

Almost time for the Dance Show.

How many times, oh Lord, how many times....is NBC going to recycle unfunny clips from SNL?

Until they stop drawing ratings. Those clip shows have done better for them than lots of their scripted shows.

I finished the NCIS episode I had started about the dead marine and three gang members with him. Very twisty little story, but there was a good bit of gay-baiting talk about the use of moisturizers and lotions that really turned me off.

Next I watched THE STARTER WIFE. Just like with the miniseries, Judy Davis steals the show. I love her. The straight actor playing gay does a fine job, but his storyline has already been done - on the first season of DIRT. I much prefer the actor cast as Debra's ex-husband to the fella now on HOUSE (Peter Jacobson) who played it in the miniseries.

While I was waiting for TALES OF HOFFMAN to come on, I watched the first half of GEORGE CUKOR: THE MEN WHO MADE THE MOVIES. I got him through HOLIDAY.

THE TALES OF HOFFMAN was beautifully made and well sung and danced. And there was Candide himself as the lead!

I doubt I'll buy the DVD, though. I can't imagine needing to watch it often enough to incur that expense. It shows up on TCM enough to satisfy any need I might have to rewatch it.

Finished my second motion picture, which I really enjoyed, and am thinking of going for three.  If not, I guess I can read the rest of this VERY long script.

I have to laugh every time I see "The Tales of Hoffman"  That's also the title of a book about The Chicago 8 Trial. I'm aware of the Tales of Hoffman you are referring to, but I keep imagining both Abbie Hoffman and Judge Julius Hoffman singing and dancing....

Next came DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. The stories were OK this week, but that crude mother getting no reaction at all from her doctor son or his groom to be - PLEASE! Edie's reaction to Dave's news was a little strong, wasn't it?

I watched the first ten minutes of BROTHERS & SISTERS, but didn't get to more of it due to "that movie" running past 10 p.m. I'll finish it tomorrow.

Shane Fenton starts it and Billy Fury finishes it up.....what might have happened if Sam Katzman had made a movie in England in 1961.

Did I spot Marion Lorne in that clip?

Or a reasonable fax.

I was watching THIS IS YOUR LIFE Helen Shapiro.....the British version of the show....must have been taped ten years ago at least.  Interesting to see.

One man who had been a disk jockey on a radio show with Helen came out and said:  "Well of course we still get letter after letter at Radio Two still asking us to play Helen's songs.  And it's been so long, that I barely recognize her handwriting...."

Quite disappointed in SUPERSTAR WALKERS OF THE WORLD.  I didn't like either of the routines from the U.S. tonight.....

Electronic pop rock?  And a "ballroom" duet that looked more like what Mickey Hargitay and Jayne Mansfield used to do at premieres.....

Liked the Australian group dancers and the South African gumboot dancers....and the Russian soloist was very good.  The rest....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
