Another one had David Carradine playing a country music superstar accused of murdering his sister-in-law. Wonder if he thought about his Oscar-winning brother Keith who won that award for a country song.

And the last one I watched had Matlock in Vegas interacting with the likes of lounge singer Dick Gautier, casino owner Ken Kercheval, and mysterious tipster Sheldon Leonard. Gautier sings "Luck Be a Lady" about four times during the show.

I did have time to skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke and Noah were on, but no Brian. And they were not in the previews for tomorrow.

Back from taking my mom to a doctor's appointment and on some errands.

Alas, this may explain why so many people - DRs included - are getting sick and "staying" sick this flu season...

DR Vixmom, I hope the ENT can take over. I remember how awful the other doctor was.

The ENT just called me.  He said that he knows the other doctor personally and professionally and that he is teh best qualified guy around for my specialized type of cancer but he was very concerned when I told him about the problems I was having with the staff, particuarly the evil chauncy.

He said he was going to call Dr Frank himself - and make sure that tomorrow's visit was smooth and stress-free and that if I still was unhappy to call him back and he would either refer me to another oncology surgeon or take over the case himself.

I love Dr Gargano

Excellent!

Are you drinking the liquid in the cans?  I thought they were going into the feeding tube.

KEEPING THIS STUFF DOWN VIBES!!!

I take the stuff out of the can and pour it into a mug and then I use a thing like a turkey baster to suck up the stuff and squirt it down my tube.

I could never drink it. Tthese days it is all I can do to sip some gingerale or water and this stuff is pretty think - it's like a melted maltshake thick...

I didn't think you drank it, just didn't realize a feeding tube caused such problems.  I thought it avoided them.

In theory it is supposed to... I just don't fit the theory

Lucky you ???  I have a tendency not to fit "the theory"

Another stay home day but I did connect into the office this morning and did some work.  Not as zonked out and sleepy as I had been yesterday, but some stomach distress has entered the picture, along with sneezing fits and watery eyes.  But the worst thing of all--daytime TV!

That's good news about the ENT, Vixmom. They should be on their best behavior for ALL of the patients.

DR Ron Pulliam, I got a sinus infection right after one of the doctors at the practice (mine, actually) passed away. This was in early October. The earliest they said they would be able to schedule an appointment was for the day after Thanksgiving. I went to an urgent care clinic and was out in a half hour with meds.

I wonder sometimes where the people at the front desks of doctor's offices think they are working?  The can't be aware of the fact that real live people with real live diseases are seeking immediate medical attention - they must think they work in a Jiffy Lube or something

We thought a lot of the pediatrician to whom we took Rob as a newborn and until he was 5 or 6, but the front desk people were so rude that we eventually transferred Rob's care to our family practitioner.

And, just today, we were about 10 minutes early for my mom's dermatologist appointment.  The doors to the waiting room were locked because there was a "staff meeting" going on (a staff meeting with deli sandwiches, by the way).  We were stuck in an unheated vestibule until someone realized that patients were beginning to arrive for 1pm appointments.

I'm pleased to report I had a good experience calling my doctor today.  When I called she just happened to be at her desk so they put her on the phone.  The results of the lab test arrived this morning confirming I was on the correct antibiotic.  Within minutes of my speaking to her a 4 day renewal of my prescription had been faxed to the pharmacy which I conveniently I picked it up on my way home after hiking with Sherlock.

OK, my afternoon surf is completed, so I'm jumping off-line and heading back to the viewing room for more Ben Matlock and friends. Then, it's on to some prime time TV.

The speed of this is scary.

When I was 19 I worked for a brilliant, strange but brilliant, allergist.  He instilled in me the dangers of using antibiotics unless absolutely necessary.  We had many patients who had developed severe allergies from antibiotic overuse.  When Tamiflu was touted as the "miracle" drug to rush & take if you got the flu I had my concerns it would be overused & did not plan to take it.

I always figured that if one gets the flu, one can't get in to see a doctor quickly enough to get the Tamiflu so that it would do any good. I know I couldn't.

Unless you are dehydrated it also seemed too soon to see a doctor.  At least for the general public, not for people with special circumstances.

I had quite an argument one time with the nurse over whether my mother was sick enough to see the doctor. She was. Very. She had pneumonia. On top of the regular COPD.

I don't think I have to watch anymore episodes of THE REAL WORLD this time around.

But you know you want to!      :)

By the end of the hour, yes, I may watch it....

Good Doctor news, DR JANE.

I can't remember the last time I felt comfortable at a doctor's office.  I guess the rudeness has become the norm.

I am bothered sometimes by the indifference and the complete lack of a sense of urgency or the value of YOUR time.

Richard Burton in DIVORCE HIS
Elizabeth Taylor in DIVORCE HERS

I did NOT say which year it was.....

You won the argument & got her in immediately?

This has been my first experience with the doctor & office.  So far ok.  The desk people aren't overly friendly which is fine with me as long as they are efficient.

I won. And then the doctor told me how to bypass her in the future. I still do.

My father was an old fashioned GP.  He was caring & concerned, sometimes too much.  The woman who ran his office equally wonderful.

That was nice.  I don't have that happen anymore.  I hope DR Vixmom learns that secret today.

The garage project may have to slip over to tomorrow - he's basically got two-thirds done and is now starting to move things around for the final third - he may be able to do it if he works into the evening a little.
