Well my spirits are better bu tmy throat is worse.  The RN at the Radiologist said this monring that this was expected and that I should proabably start taking pain meds, that it is unusual for someone to have gone as long as I have without them.

Yes, it is cold in the Northeast. Temperatures today are predicited to be in the 20s. It's certainly not as bad as certain Midwestern states (Iowa and Wisconsin and Minnesota come to mind) but it is chilly, even for an old former Minnesota Bachelor Farmer. Anthony is getting a slight taste of life in Wisconsin in February. Later this evening the temperature is scheduled to drop to single digits.

On tv tonight for me:

Another audition night on AMERICAN IDOL (2 hours)

13 Fear Is Real (i did not think i would like this show but the stuff they have them do is scary. Last week for the elimination they buried 2 people alive in coffins. I am claustrophobic and that would have made me panic like crazy!).

TOP CHEF NY!!!

And they are replaying the last 3 episodes of LOST before the premiere. i am definitely going to record this because truthfully without looking it up i have no idea what happened at the end of last season.

Druxy - Thanks so much for the useful insights about parody; it really got me reading.  Since my lawyering experience is limited to tax (law school was over 25 years ago for me), I didn't know a lot of this stuff about where the parody rules have developed over the past decade(s).

If anyone's interested, some fascinating (even surprising, to me) developments are recounted in this Wikipedia entry:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parody

Believe me, before I wrote ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, I did a massive amount of research and spent several hundred dollars with a copyright lawyer to research the parody issue.

Parody protection is also the primary reason that I use caricatures of the various stars mentioned in the book, rather than actual photographs.

Incidentally, the artist (Dave Woodman) I used for both the caricatures and the book cover was a protegee of Al Hirschfeld.  You can really see Hirschfeld's influence, which is exactly what I wanted.

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki.

Sounds like a Cole Porter lyric, doesn't it?

Yeah, and as hunky and attractive as those two guys are, the Cole Porter song for me would be AT LONG LAST LOVE!

And quite charismatic. He might have had more of a movie career if he hadn't stayed too long in the prize ring. He continued fighting long after his glory days were over.

Since I reviewed the Blu-ray edition of Season 4 last month, I won't need to watch this, but if I hadn't, I would definitely have needed a refresher on all of the events squeezed into those last three hours of last season. When I watched it for review purposes, I couldn't believe how much I had forgotten.

This is the third week now that the idiot management of my building has been unable to repair the one dryer that only blows cold air. While I'm annoyed at paying the extra money for the other, what really pisses me off is the extra hour the damned management is costing me.

Otherwise, all errands are accomplished and it's time to think about the most happy fella in the Napa Valley.

Good morning!

We're beginning to get the winter chill that affecting the more northern parts of the country. Our high today is only going to be 42, and by Friday, it's not supposed to get out of the 20s with a low of 9!

Brrrr! Chilll!
