Oh he left.....well Cleo said, in one episode of The People's Choice, that she was sitting on the kitchen stove because now and then she got the urge to ride the range.

Wonder if Darlene Edwards ever got hold of that one?

Well, it's time to leave work, get gas for the car and drive up to Seattle to see Memphis at the 5th Avenue!  I'll have a report when I get back.

Until later!

Chopin's Polonaise in A Flat!

Como's "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" suffered the same ban. (Chopin again)

In today's local news:

Sheriff Joe is considering using the light rail to transport prisoners. The public will not be at any risk, as armed deputies will accompany them.

Thank you Laura.  The house is still quite cool at the moment.  High ceilings help.

LOL  and that decreases the element of risk to the public?

DR Laura - we are getting new carpet in two rooms tomorrow!  I took pictures of the old, and will post to photobucket; I'll take pictures of the new once it is laid.

I am jealous. I ordered my carpet December 22.  I have confirmed that it is now at the installers but they haven't called to set up an appointment yet.  Errrrr!

Cillaliz might recognize this spot:

The train passing by Cillaliz's old office. It is going, not coming.

Yup! That would be the place, my office was actually in the building right behind the parking ramp, it's the Luhrs Central Building, but the admin offices were in the building that looks sort of brownish.

Me and a girl wearing short skirt in parking garage elevator when the temp was below zero
Me: Aren't your legs cold?
Girl: No, not at all, I'm getting my revenge on someone who ruined my life
Me: Oh, well, I hope that works out for you. Have a nice day

LOL!

Every spot on the ground floor of that building was vacant. None of them could stay in business for the several years that construction closed down the road.

I have not caught up, not by any measure.

But I do want to weigh in on last night's (and today's) ongoing discussion about the "delay" in digital TV conversion.

I appreciate compassion, DR MBarnum, but I have to ask why this old age home where your mother is hasn't gotten a converter box.  Better yet, why haven't you insured that your mother's TV is ready for the change?

The compassion should be from the relatives or neighbors of those who may not know about, or know how to prepare, for the conversion.  Frankly, none of this is "news"...it has been in process for years and years.

Speaking as the son of a senior citizen, and being one in my own right, I have to say I have not been unable to prepare myself.  In fact,  I've helped my mom by assisting her in selecting an HDTV...but that's something she did not need because her cable company is converting the signal for analog TVs.

If compassion is needed, it should come from all who worry...go out and knock on doors.  Go out and buy the converter boxes on their behalf and get them ready.

I guarantee you this...if millions of Americans were not prepared to pay their taxes on April 15 because of the beatings they took on Wall Street and the economic downturn that may have cost them their jobs or a reduction in salary, there would be NO compassion from Uncle SAM that would allow a three-to-four-month delay for all (or a penalty-free delay for some) in the filing deadline.

There is  one correct way for this conversion to happen and that is for it TO happen.  Communities can then come together to assess who got passed by and help rectify the problems that come up.

One percent of the $1.4 billion spent on our light rail system had to be spent on art. There is art at most of the stations. Here is some art:
