THE PLANETS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were accompanied by Gustav Holst's The Planets, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently talking about Uranus, which is moosic to their ears.

Is that a wine made especially for a library's special occasions?

No groaning, folks...it's all I got.

And on that note (C-natural), I'm off to bed.  Good night, all.

Mood rings amused me, because some members of my family tried to get involved with selling those a little bit.

At least I don't have a previously scheduled 3pm meeting. Perhaps I can even get some work done.

Good morning, al! I'm off to Toyland and running several errads as well, ending hopefully in a post office visit.

Missed the pet rock and mood ring fads, thank you, Jesus! All  I can think of is the hula hoop madness of the late 1950s.

Fads?  Hmm I had a mood ring, a family of pet rocks, of course I was in junior high and high school then.  I'll have to think about this one

I'm waiting for Edith to get to the office so we can leave for Omaha.   It's supposed to sleet and maybe freezing drizzle so even though I told her 8:00 AM I was really hoping she'd be here sooner.   Oh well, we'll do what we can do.

I had some of those clacker things when I was growing up.   They were annoying and hurt when they hit your hand or broke and hit you in the head, but we liked them

On another note, I had the Farrah Fawcett feathered hair style that everyone had.  That's a fad, right?

Hula Hoop was the second one for me.....the Davy Crockett raccoon hat was the first.

Later:  Mood Rings!  We still sell those at World of Wisdom along with Fortune Telling Fish.

DR ELMORE I enjoyed the entire book, but I especially enjoyed Tallullah Bankhead's reaction to Spinetti's impression of Alec Guiness and the Turks.

Spinetti crossed the room holding his backside and shuffling slowly.....

Spinetti as Edward Andrews:  My God man what happened?

Spinetti as Guinness as Lawrence of Arabia:  I....fell off a camel and was dragged over barbed wire.

Tallullah Bankhead:  Oh my God, darling, that's the story of my life!

My tv also new that LOST was going 2 minutes extra and that TOP CHEF was going long.

I think it depends. Because FOX keeps going 1 minute over  on AMERICAN IDOL and its not marked. So my tv doesn't know to record it.

A bunch of new things tonight on tv for me. No Ugly Betty.

But another American Idol.

The premiere of Hell's Kitchen.

Smallville.

Private Practice.

I'm awake.  Today should have been in the classroom, instead, it's off to the Honda dealership to take care of an issue that happened while on the highway yesterday.  The car (a 2003 Honda Element) decided to lose power at about 55 mph.  This has happened before, and it is a subtle (NOT!) reminder that the oil may be low  So, I but a few quarts in, checked the level and it's still doing the same thing.  So, since it is my livelihood, it's going to the shop.  Hopefully, it's nothing major.

I was sorry to lose the chef we lost on TOP CHEF.....but I guess it was the obvious choice.

Good Morning!

Beautiful day outside. Very nippy but we're promised warmer temperatures later in the day - into the 50s. But it should be a pleasure going to lunch today in this weather.

Roads are sort of clear, but not clear enough to justify the driving of some people who want to go VERY FAST and follow you verycloselyevenwhencomingtoastopsign.

I stayed up late and watched TOP CHEF.

SPOILERS for last night's show.

I'm guessing DR Jose was happy to see his twitter friends on the show last night! I was really unhappy with the elimination method. The 3 worst chefs (carla, leah, hosea) all won their rounds. And 3 of the 4 best chefs (fabio, stefan and jeff all lost). I was really mad because those 3 were really good. Not happy one of them had to go home. I"m not crazy about stefan's attitude sometimes but he is a great chef. And my favorites were jeff and fabio (although i think jamie is great too just not my fav). The Superbowl idea was good. But not happy one of my favs went (although i prefer fabio). END OF SPOILERS ufoauf oid ufoaufodufoudofaudoisufoidufoiudiof ud oifu odsufidusdufduofuoiuouu ui jjkjjkjkjkjlj kjlkjl

Got some glorious news today from my Time Warner cable company.

After a year of HEAVY prodding via many, many e-mails, I got the news that the following HD channels would be added in February:

USA HD
Sci Fi HD
CNBC HD
Bravo HD

I simply could NOT be happier!

That makes the only other cable channel that I watch regularly - FX - will be the only one without an HD component in my cable listings. Hopefully, that, too, will only be a matter of time.

Thursday morning greetings!  DH Richard is outside trying to de-ice his car, which has been parked on the street since Tuesday afternoon.  Once he got the snow off, he found a layer of solid ice encasing the entire car.  Good thing I fortified him with a breakfast of pecan waffles and bacon!
