Oy!  Speaking of photos... I need to charge up my camera for Edith's wedding tomorrow.  It may just be a civil ceremony at the courthouse, but there must be photos!!  I'm so excited for her.  I'm even going to wear a dress tomorrow!

Well, waddaya know...

I just popped the first ALLEGRO disc into my PC and this time iTunes shows all the track data.  So, it must be like DR Jose suggested--the discs have some minimal digital identifier that is recognized by iTunes (or whatever it is that Windows Media Player uses as it's source.)  But if the track info is not in the iTunes database, nothing will show up locally.

The question is--who enters the track data for iTunes.  I do recall when using Windows Media Player that it occasionally asked me if I wanted to submit my information to their central database but I've never seen that for iTunes.  Just curious...

iTunes and other services utilize the CDDB (Compact Disc Database) which is now owned by/called, Gracenote.  For the most part, the track info is submitted by the record companies.  However, some of the info is provided - and sometimes corrected - by "us".

There is a "Submit CD Track Names" under the Advanced menu - which actually seems to come in handy for some of those "open" bootlegs.  Sometimes, you will be given an option or two or three when you insert a disc - "Please Select the Album".  This happens semi-regularly with Classical albums, mainly due to different releases in different countries.  -I have a few track names with their Japanese "translation".

For more info, just check out Gracenote.

*Some "Home Library" programs also pull their info from the listings on Amazon.

JMK & Ben,

Thanks for the heads up on the DVD region-changing feature on computers.  Guess I'll just have to invest in that All-region DVD player after all.

Thanks! The wedding is tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM.  I really am thrilled she picked me to be a witness.  She has no idea I'm going to wear a dress and heels.  She'll love it

CDDB!  It all comes back to me now.  I was a big Windows Media Player user before my iPod days, but that stuff is pretty much invisible to me now.

Before I walked into The Booth the other night to see The Story of My Life, I snapped some pics across the street at the Shubert of the posters for the upcoming revival of Blithe Spirit... I'm not sure what I'm supposed to "get" from this artwork...

I'm assuming they have thought of that.  She has kids and other friends coming to the ceremony.

Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice (if you only watch one you will probably have to watch both since they are continuing the story tonight).

Not really.  Almost not at all.  In fact, it seems like a case of "Bait and Switch".

RE: Last night's "Top Chef"

I thought it could have gone either way in regards to whom was asked to pack their knives.  And as for the one chef who was spared last night, well... You should read some of the comments from Spike and others on the Twitter feed. ;)

All in all, it was a great episode.  Two great challenges, and they really tested each chef's palate and skills.  It was also one of the more in-depth Chef's Table discussions - both during the meal, and during the judging panel.

*I also think that they've finally weeded out the chefs that "needed" to be weeded out.  It really seems that the overall level of the chefs this season was not as high as in seasons past.  However, now that we're down to the final rounds, it's really getting good.

Next week won't make as much sense without the whole  build up, but I'm sure they will recap enough to catch everyone up

Ok, where did I put my camera battery recharger?  Edith said she considers the two days off with pay as her wedding present, but I want to try to get a really good photo or two or three and frame them for her.  I know there won't be a photographer, and good gravy, you've got to have a wedding photo!

She has six total treatments. She will do three, then have a month of radiation, then the other three. She has had two so far.

When I first read this, I thought it was in reference to "Margaret Thatcher's illegitimate mixed race child"... ::)

Interesting discovery...I took one of the DVDs we acquired in England that come free in several of the Sunday Papers and put it in my computer.  It brought up a message box, "This DVD is region 2, your DVD player is set on region 1, would you like to switch over?"  I clicked on yes and it gave me an array of options that basically allow me to play any DVD from any country.  So I've had an all-region DVD player in my computer all this time!

Umm... What everyone else already said.  ;)

My "wedding" was like Edith's. Our mothers were our witnesses and the JP was at one of the courts I worked in. That was almost thirty years ago.

And today's "Hi" temp in Memphis is supposed to be tomorrow's "Lo".  Of course, I'll be inside for most of tomorrow, so... Well... I should be able to get a good walk in tomorrow afternoon.  To The Cupboard. :)

I got married at Northeast Justice Court. Judge Weisenberger was the JP.  He was later required to get counseling...not because of our wedding, but because of other problems he had.  That was amost 21 years ago

I got divorced at the Central Court building on flag day. I walked out of the courthouse and all the flags were flying. It's something I think of and smile every flag day.  That was almost 20 years ago
