Exactly!
It's not the gaining of weight...it's rubbing folks' nose in things they might be trying to avoid.
It's called "common courtesy" or "respect" for folks trying to eliminate a lifetime of bad habits and impulse eating.
But DO continue to "enable" and "facilitate" with all that free time you have to visit all those bakeries.
Don't forget the burger joints, the hot dog stands, the candy stores, the street carts...
Speaking for myself - With the very recent health scares and concerns that both of my parents have been dealing with, I am very aware of the pitfalls of some of the foods I eat and enjoy. But just because I take a picture of a
macaron, Levain cookie or a cupcake from Magnolia, does not necessarily mean I've eaten said treat. Or eaten them on the day I posted the picture. -BK mentioned cupcakes the other day, and I just happened to have taken a pic of cupcakes a few months ago... -FYI - There were four cupcakes in that picture, in that box - one was for me, and the remainder were for my roommates.
I know I have a tendency to indulge. However, I've made a very conscious effort over the past year to make sure I balance that out with additional physical activity. Do I go to the gym regularly? No. However, I usually walk anywhere from four to eight miles a day. I do eat and enjoy "healthy food" too. I just tend not to take pictures of those items. In fact, I lost 15 pounds and two inches off my waist last year in spite of and despite my Enabling.
Food is primarily nourishment - it's what keeps us alive. Food should also taste good. Food should be savored and enjoyed - whether it's meat, fish, vegetable, fruit, flour-based, sugar-sweetened or cream-laden. If pictures and descriptions of food are making you "uncomfortable", well...
Put down the Morning Bun and the Chocolatine!
