I've just heard that John McGlinn is dead.

And even if he's not, his career is.

Back from the Hollywood Show.  Yes that's the new name because after all these years, Ray Courts has sold the show to someone else.  I don't know how much they paid him or what the deal is, but he's on for the next two years as a "consultant."  I will say that today's show was pretty jammed - all you need is Tony Curtis, Debbie Reynolds, Malcolm MacDowell and a few more heavyweights.  But the thing that really did it, I have to tell you, is Joan Collins.  For the first time ever, they put her in another room all by herself, and for the first time ever you have to pay to even get IN the room - that's on top of the twenty bucks to get into the show AND whatever she's charging for her pix and autograph.  And yes, huge lines for her, MacDowell, Curtis (who looks TERRIBLE and is in a wheel chair), Debbie, and Debbie's daughter, Carrie Fisher, who doesn't even resemble what she used to look like.

It was very hard to see who was there, because there were people everywhere, but I spied usual suspects such as Dwayne Hickman, Warren Berlinger, Jon Provost, but also newer folks like Yaphet Kotto and Bruce Davison.  People seemed to be spending a LOT of money, too.  I also saw our very own Druxy.  Grant and I had a good time - he bought one magazine for $5.00.   There were more dealers, too.  I did hear the ominous rumblings that the new owners will try to bring in a younger crowd - I do hope that doesn't mean they'll only want current people signing - that would be the kiss of death for this show.  But, if they can get the kind of lineup they had today - well, they'll be back on their feet, I think.

Grant and I went to the Daily Grill next door to the show - I had the salad wedge - they've changed the way they do it - it used to be a wedge with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, diced tomatoes, and a very good and light vinaigrette.  The latter has been replaced by a creamy bleu cheese dressing.  But they were kind enough to do it the old way for me.

So, I'll have something very light for later, plus a sweet or two, since I did do the long jog.

The Jim that's in Jose's photos with the kitty is the very same Jim who, along with the wonderful people at his company, is responsible for the visual aspects of the videos I've been posting on youtube and linking here, like the "Fish" parody with its fabulous and inventive photo selections and timing.

Definitely not disco, but here are a couple of the most recent ones, which I don't think I've linked here before.  These two are wedding-related, one a "traditional" ceremony song as written in the show it was written for, the other a same-sex ceremony song:

"I Look Into Those Eyes"  - In the show, it's a ballad in which the character celebrates being accepted into a new family.

"A Perfect Day" - same-sex wedding vows - vocals on the demo are performed by Janie Smulyan and Maureen Silliman

When I saw Druxy, his whole aisle was fairly empty, but I'm sure that changed as the day went by.  His ever-lovin' Sandy was with him.  I honestly don't know if I'll have time to get there tomorrow.  I wouldn't be able to be there before three-thirty, and I know that on Sunday a lot of people pack up early if it's not busy - and do I need to spend another twenty bucks to hang out for an hour - I would like to say hey to Linda Purl and my pal Nick will be there so I'd get to meet Malcolm MacDowell, but, you know, I'm thinking not.

I hope Mr Goldstein feels better very soon.

He has a followup appointment this week, which he needs.

I always enjoy the food pictures from Jose and others.  Even though I've lost forty-five pounds I, too, like to look - it's not a temptation, just fun, for me at least.

Congrats BK, I hope to catch up with your weight loss soon

The insufferable putz™ has emailed me an apology.  Methinks I'll let him stew for a while before I accept.  :)

I"m about to take a nice long hot shower, put on my comfy clothes and curl up in my chair to see what's on TV.   I may make a batch of popcorn later.   I'm hoping that staying home and relaxing tonight may keep away the cold I seem to be trying to catch.
