Lovely photo, DR LAURA.....if Warner Bros rendered it, Troy Donahue would be standing on that balcony.

re: the hives on my neck.

I don't know that you'd call them hives. But that was the best description i could come up with (red and sort of like a rash).

No i was not wearing a scarf.

And i don't think i ate anything i haven't eaten a million times.

I did have on my winter jacket that zips up quite high covering my neck. And i did (the day before) wash it with soap because my make-up had left a mark. I wonder if this soap could have irritated my neck?

Definitely.  Did you use a new detergent, or you possibly didn't rinse it well enough.

Back from a long and profitable day at Toyland: all the Act Two final edits are done and the libretto is up-to-date and looking spiffy.

Tonight at 7:30 I'm having dinner with John McGlinn's suster Lorin. It was she who identified the body on Saturday. It must have been unpleasant because the body had been found 3-4 days after his death and the police had to batter down the door to get to it. Lorin tells me that there is a will and the next thing to discover is who may be the executor.

One Sondheim query resolved:

LATIMES

Quote
Shades of Leonard Cohen
...
When Leonard Cohen famously turned his back on the music industry in 1994, he retreated to a Zen monastery more than 6,000 feet above sea level on Mt. Baldy, in the San Gabriel Mountains near Claremont McKenna College. The musician took the name Jikan — meaning “the Silent One” — and devoted himself to an ascetic lifestyle and to the study of Rinzai Zen philosophy.

His five years in seclusion left a gaping lacuna in the musician’s eclectic career. Few people know why Cohen, born to a Jewish family in Montreal, ensconced himself in the monastery’s regimen of meditation and reflection. But “Drawing From the Heart,” a new exhibition of Cohen’s art at Claremont McKenna, throws light on that chapter of his life.

With more than 50 prints of Cohen’s paintings and drawings, the show is a broad survey of his work during the last 40 years. Recurring motifs include the female nude and self-portraits of the artist’s wizened face. But there are also cryptic, slyly comic references to his time on Mt. Baldy.

Concurrent with the exhibition is the Southern California premiere of Philip Glass’ song cycle “Book of Longing,” based on Cohen’s 2006 volume of poetry. Glass will perform on keyboard with eight musicians and four singers. (The Feb. 25 through March 1 concerts are at the Garrison Theater, a few blocks from the art show at the Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum.)

Glass said the idea for the song cycle originated in a long conversation he had at Cohen’s L.A. home. The project was put on hold when Cohen entered the monastery but was revived after the publication of his book. “People don’t read poetry books chronologically, and I wanted to replicate that experience, as if the listener was subjected to random shuffling,” said Glass. The song cycle takes 22 poems and arranges them into thematic chapters dealing with love, Dharma, ballads and Cohen’s biography.
...

A random shuffling of a Glass work - how could you tell?

And here is a link to an article from Consumerist.com concerning Facebook's latest "Terms of Service".  It's been causing quite a bit of "noise" and "chatter" on the web this morning.  I know some people who have already modified their Facebook profiles and accounts accordingly. -And, yes, some legal challenges are already in the works.

Facebook's New Terms Of Service: "We Can Do Anything We Want With Your Content. Forever."

It bet legal challenges are in the works!

Son Mike's film CHUCK & BUCK is a very strange indie film, and he was so good playing a man of limited intelligence, it's strange to see him act just like everyone else.

Well, since he also wrote the screenplay (and lyric) for SCHOOL OF ROCK, we know he's stranger than everyone else.

This Dachshund is fostering this little guy for another mom who couldn't take care of him.

He had his eyes closed, but now they are open. He is just a little bigger than her other pups.

She loves this little guy as much as the other puppies and she is nursing him back to health.

He is the cleanest pig-uppy ever because she licks him all the time.

HIS NAME IS PINK...

Back from a four-hour-plus editing session.  We finished with everything, but he now has to go in and insert all the pickups we did where they need to be inserted.  Then I'll view the whole thing top to bottom and we'll burn copies for the boys to see, and then we'll do notes, lock the picture, and then do the sound mix.  I'm sure we'll have this ready for April.

I will begin an exercise regimen tomorrow morning, WALKING, with my cousin-in-law.  He's one of those guys who walks the mall before mall store hours.
Of course, once spring has sprung, Dixie Bell and I will be running the cemetery thrice a week.

We have survived buying a new car.  Nice 2009 Chevy Cobalt, silver, 5-speed, could get up to 44mpg highway, which I'm thrilled about.
