I'm so out of it right now.  I feel like I just gained back fifty pounds - I know I didn't even probably gain back one pound, but I sure feel like it.

I keep getting these e-mails that say "Free Viagra."  I didn't know that Viagra had been incarcerated, frankly.

TOD

My favorite rep houses no longer exist

The Seville opened on March 22 1929 closed in 1984 and left to crumble. It is literally just a shell. The owner let it fall apart .As of 2001 or so, the east wall collapsed. Interior gutted and marquee removed. Heavily braced against further collapse. The Seville used to be a great theater. It not only should films but there were live performances. My father told me in the 40's and 50's that Harry Belafonte, Liberace, Tony Bennett,  Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, Johnnie Ray, The Four Aces, Sarah Vaughan, and Connie Francis. performed there. The Sound of Music played there for almost 3 years!! Actually 2 years and 5o weeks.

It was replaced by Half a Sixpence which opened 41 years ago yesterday.  here it is before it fell apart. The whole block is boarded up

The other theater was the Monkland opened March 7 1930 which prior being a rep house it was a twofer. It showed double bills (remember them) whenever a major film finished its first run it would go to the Monkland with a film that didn't do as well at the box office.

I remember I saw the last film to ever play the Monkland. The theater closed never again to be a cinema. It eventually was converted into stores. The last film was Blue Thunder. It closed in 1981 and was gutted in March 1985 to make stores

Here is the Monkland theater as it looks today

Good morning, all! I'm off to Toyland in a few minutes. I have nothing else to report.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.....I live in Mooresville Indiana.  It takes movies so long to get there that every theater is a revival house.

Actually our movie theatre closed late last year.  So now we have to go 10 miles to Plainfield to see a new movie.  :P

I am back on the PC since I have to work this weekend and will not make the complete changeover until next week.

Thanks for the suggestions, DR JOSE and MR BK.  I did use the "help" function.  They both suggested I use the "eject" button - but helpfully did not include an image of said icon - and no button said "Eject".....after a few searches in help, etc.....I did finally find a button with a little triangle on it at the top right.....voila....the drawer opened.

DR JOSE - I have a tray not a slot....I only have a G4 with OS X Tiger 10.4.....so we shall see.

If there's a euphemism in that last post of mine, it was unintentional.

Re the notes:  Wasn't Tony Curtis a memorable singer of songs in Spartacus?

I wonder if Theodore Bikel's singer of songs in My Side of the Mountain was an homage to Mr. Curtis in Spartacus.

Interestingly, and i use the term loosely, I saw both Bikel and Curtis (in different musicals) at the fabled New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark.  The shows were Fiddler on the Roof and Some Like It Hot, respectively.  So does NJPAC count as a "revival house?"  :)

Indeed and in fact, dear friend (and Last-Starfighter-NYMF-presentation-co-star-of-bk) Maureen Silliman was Golde to Theodore Bikel's Tevye the very first time I went to see a show at NJPAC.

The young boy in My side of the Mountain was one Teddy Eccles, whom I remember was featured in a lot of the teen magazines way back when.

I am disturbed that there may be an episode of The Amazing Race on during the Oscar telecast.
