I keep smelling smoke. I hope if there's a building on fire, it's not mine.

SHAYNE-

If You are going to the Crest Tomorrow Night to see Hal Linden you are in for a Great Treat. The Best that I've seen in a long long while.

The last number he does is a Hate-Love New York City , Does the music sound a little bit like A TRIP TO THE LIBRARY or is it my Imagination??

ANY WAY- ENJOY!!

Off to meet Becky at Panera at Bridgewater Falls, a shopping center that was built where there was

NO bridge
NO water
NO falls

For some crazy reason, we have a few subdivisions here with ocean themes.

We have a subdivision in Marietta where they clearcut most of the trees. The name?

Lost Forest.

There are unconfirmed stories tonight about Natasha Richardson being in critical condition following a skiing accident.  I hope that they are not true...

I just received a very cool email from a senior producer at ABC News and also PBS telling me how impressed he is by my FF research.  I think it would make a great ABC or PBS documentary, don't you?  :)

And I think everyone mentioned on the website should be flown to NYC for interviews and frivolity.

And in a neat little bit of synchronicity, I got the new DVD release of Trumbo's JOHNNY GOT HIS GUN today, co-starring the writer of my recently received letter Marsha Hunt, who also is copiously featured in the bonus interviews.  I don't know when these were filmed, but if they were recently, she looks absolutely fantastic for someone her age.  Maybe even for someone not her age.

Was The Merv Griffin Show done in NYC or L.A.?  (I'm talking about the CBS show that ran opposite Johnny Carson.)

His CBS series originated from New York. It was taped at the Cort Theater. I was in the audience for the second ever broadcast of that series. The guests that night were Dinah Shore and Sonny and Cher.

I think his show was telecast from what is now the Helen Hayes theater. I have seen a photo somewhere. that shows it. I think the Cort theater would have been too big for a tv studio.

EDIT

Actually I think we are both correct

He did his show from 1965-1969 at the Helen Hayes Theater and then 1969-1792 at the Cort

But the original question was where he did his *CBS* show. That was the Cort which was my answer since I WAS THERE.

The show you're referring to was his syndicated show, wasn't it?

I had a full evening of viewing.

I began by finishing the bonus features on THE ODD COUPLE. A couple of comments.

Chris Lemmon is aging very well.

Robert Evans seems to be in very sad shape.

Next I watched today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The boys were on, and Luke once again is on a crusade against gay discrimination.  Nothing in the previews for tomorrow.

Next came tonight's '24.' Another fantastic episode. It is MIND-BOGGLING how they work a new cat and mouse scenario every week, and they get it to work and make it seem fresh and new. Incredible suspense. The President's daughter is one big snake in the grass.

And I concluded tonight's viewing with CASTLE. A pretty good case, and Nathan got off a couple of very good quips. An OK second episode and easier to take than the first one.

Tomorrow my work project will be the regular DVD release of Criterion's THE LAST METRO. I already did the Blu-ray release last week, so I'll rewatch the movie again to check the video and audio quality, but I won't have to rewatch all of the bonuses. Just watch the first little bit of each one to see which are anamorphically encoded and which aren't.

Report: Natasha Richardson Critically Injured in Ski Accident

Natasha Richardson, wife of actor Liam Neeson and daughter to legendary actress Vanessa Redgrave, has reportedly been injured while skiing in Canada.

IrishCentral.com is reporting that Richardson suffered a brain injury and is in critical condition at a Montreal hospital. She was gearing up to co-star with her mother in a Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music. No word on whether Neeson is by her side. Redgrave and Richardson most recently starred as mother and daughter in the film Evening, also starring Claire Danes and Toni Collette.

Good night!
