DR elmore - Oh! The Hotel Rouge. Very nice. That's a Kimpton property, isn't it?

DRs FJL and elmore - Oh how I wish I could see FINIAN'S RAINBOW this weekend too. I love me some Kate Baldwin. Clap a little louder for me.

I'd like to see Finian's Rainbow - then again, I'd like to see an Encores show period - the only one I've ever seen is Chicago and that was long after its Encores appearance.

Shockingly, I think I may have to order yet more shipping boxes on Monday - don't want to be caught short, although it only takes one day for them to get here.

Good morning!

We're still gray here, and rain and thunderstorms are predicted for later. I think we have some clearing tomorrow. I'm ready for it.

Hello, everyone.

I have nothing to report.

You could report that you're on your way to LA - but nooooo, you keep saying dates you'll be here and then you're never here.  That's MY report.

I was supposed to get VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA to review on Blu-ray. It was assigned to me, but Lionsgate never sent it, so I haven't seen it. After reading the mostly good reviews, I was looking forward to it, but it didn't come, and now I'll just wait for it to show up on paycable.

I don't think it's Lionsgate.  As I recall it's from Genius.

My work project today will be KING BABY, a stand-up comedy act from Jim Gaffigan that's premiering on Comedy Central tomorrow night and the DVD to be released on Tuesday. He's usually pretty funny (and a fine actor when he does roles on various TV shows, not always comedies), so this should be a pleasant way to spend an hour this evening.

Quite a disappointing showing from our young female figure skaters at the world championships, and it's not looking promising for us to have three women represent the US at the Olympics next year. After the short program, our ladies ranked 7th and 14th, so neither will be skating in the final tier of skaters. We have to hope they both do very well and that some of the top ladies have meltdowns that will allow our girls to pull up enough to qualify us for three placements on the Olympic team.

May 6 and 7, and I would not be surprised to see Mr Blank there. I actually suspect he'll be on a panel about Irwin Kostal since he was Larry's mentor.

bk certainly made a grand case for 1962 as a wonderful film year (let's not forget THE MUSIC MAN and GYPSY were part of that year), and no one can argue that 1939 and 1964 were filled with wonderful films.

I also love 1948:

THE SEARCH
TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE
HAMLET
THE SNAKE PIT
JOHNNY BELINDA
JOAN OF ARC
THE RED SHOES
I REMEMBER MAMA
SITTING PRETTY
SORRY WRONG NUMBER
KEY LARGO
RED RIVER
THE NAKED CITY
A FOREIGN AFFAIR
THE PALEFACE
ROMANCE ON THE HIGH SEAS
EASTER PARADE
THE PIRATE
PORTRAIT OF JENNIE
ALL MY SONS
CALL NORTHSIDE 777
COMMAND DECISION
MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE
THAT LADY IN ERMINE
FORT APACHE
RACHEL AND THE STRANGER
WHEN MY BABY SMILES AT ME
THE EMPEROR WALTZ

I'm awake.  Last night for cutting it loose with Footloose is tonight.  Today is a First Communion Mass for one of my schools and then a stumble through of The King and I  Once again, I'm ignorant about movies so I can't comment on the TOD.

Good Morning!

TOD:  I am tempted to go with 1939, because it's pretty hard to top those movies, but I'll think about it.

I'll be back......

Cool! So you might get a goldfish in your hotel room, and gummy teeth and a joy-buzzer in your "mini-bar" tray. :)

The transfers in the Warner Archive program are getting a bit of a lambasting - can't contribute yay or nay since mine haven't arrived even though my order has said "shipped" since last Tuesday.

Which may be why they are loathe to release screeners to review sites.  They have said they will release *one* title to each site who contacts them.

My favorite year for movies?

Any year which featured a release from Alfred Hitchcock, of course.

For me, 1958 was a wonderful year from films...just imagine a year filled with movies like:

EARTH VS THE SPIDER

ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE

HOT CAR GIRL

ATTACK OF THE 50 FT WOMAN

HONG KONG CONFIDENTIAL

WOLF DOG

THE RESTLESS YEARS

NIGHT OF THE BLOOD BEAST

QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE

HIGH SCHOOL HELL CATS

ZIMBO

and so many more...the only year that comes close in such goodness is 1957.

But you left off The Party Crashers, which I find personally devastating.
