Why am I so late logging onto the site?

TAXES!!!!!

Yep, I spent all morning (from a little after 7 until 1:30) doing my federal and state income taxes. It was backbreaking and headache-inducing work even using  a tax program since I have all these portfolio transactions that have to be listed and that take forever to enter.

But the happy news is that for the first time in many years, I'm getting money back from both federal and state. That makes all the trauma this morning worth it.

I paid mine yesterday, it wasn't a pleasant experience.

JMK, did you know that Cal Tjader did the musical score for the June Kenney film HOT CAR GIRL? And if you did know it, did you see it?

I'm sure that will receive its own very special chapter in this fellow's upcoming book.  :)

I might add that the FF-Kritzerland one degree of separation also has a mere two (count 'em, two) degrees of separation to former reader Aura 18.

And what an all-star cast!  DR MBarnum, do you know how many Oscar nominations HOT CAR GIRL received?

I was disappointed at the team that left TAR, but I wasn't surprised that the didn't make it al the way.   I was also glad to see when you try to hide the ball for other players you get dinged with a penalty

I'm watching Celebrity Apprentice.  Yeah, it's stupid, but for some reason I like it.  Dennis Rodman is supposed to have a melt down tonight....I think it's getting close.

I agree DR CILLA LIZ - I can't remember another time in TAR history that a team did something like that.

Maybe the Tjader author can interview Ms Kenney.

I think he and Mike should have a Thunderdome match to decide who gets her first.

JRand, other than the bad behavior, I actually liked that team better tonight than in the past.  I still don't love them, but they are growing on me

Does the "hot" in that movie title refer to the Car of the title or the Girl of the title, one wonders.

Little Dorrit has an amazing cast of characters,  and i'm still figuring out who everyone is. The leading man was Mr Darcy in the Kiera Knightley PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, and Tom Courtenay is quite wonderful as Little Dorrit's father. Andy Serkis of LORD OF THE RINGS is the evil Ragaud.

It's been a nice day today. The multicultural fair was interesting and the food was great!  I went with the Indian food - curried chicken with lentils and basmati rice. But there was so much other good food that I took a barbeque ribs dinner from Three Brotherz home for dinner.  They were the best barbeque ribs I've ever had and the baked beans...YUM!

I did some yard work, played with the cats, backed up my computer and installed some new software in the Wind.  Relaxing and nice...  I like days like this

About to start watch MOONRAKER. Not the best of the Bond films, but still enjoyable.

It is, without question, my least favorite Bond film ever and that includes A VIEW TO A KILL and DIE ANOTHER DAY.

I have not bought the Blu-ray for it yet, and unless I can find a really attractive price for it, I may not get it. I didn't replace the old Special Edition DVD with the Ultimate Edition because I have just never been able to stand the movie.

Sorry you had to pay. I know how you feel, though. I have had to pay for at least the last ten years. This year is an anomoly.

I'm not even able to e-file this year. Because there were so many sell-buy transactions, an e-file is not permitted.

I spent my entire evening with DOUBT on Blu-ray.

I have never seen the play onstage, and I only knew the bare bones about the plot. I thought it was terrific. Loved all of the actors, and what great writing, a real thinking man's movie! Viola Davis' Mrs. Miller! Wow! I didn't see her character's point of view coming at all, and it really gave the story another dimension. No wonder the play won the Pulitzer (and the Tony).

Blu-ray looked very nice with good sharpness and the slightly desaturated color gave it a hint of nostalgia appropriate to something set in 1964. The DTS-HD MA sound only used the surrounds for the storms and the music, but it had a nice open lilt to it that I liked.
