Many thanks, Scott - I've been trying to tease out the meaning for many years. My ear always heard that application, but I couldn't come up with the "lickerish" thing. Thanks again - I can sleep easier.

TOD:

CD:  the divoon Rosemary Clooney singing' and swingin' with her paramour Nelson Riddle.  I know I'm slow on the uptake sometimes, but I never realized that the television theme for Peyton Place was the film theme for Return to Peyton Place, which Rosie sings on this CD.

DVD:  the hilarious, four-star-plus LOST IN AUSTEN (hmmm---are they BK fans?), an extremely clever send up of Pride and Prejudice.  It's almost 3 hours (we're about 2 hours into it), but it is one of the swiftest moving and most enjoyable things I've seen recently.  If you're an Austen fan, or especially if you love the 1995 BBC version of P&P, you MUST, MUST, MUST get this.

I have it but I haven't watched it yet.
