BK, interesting notes (as always). I know it's not Wednesday yet, but here's a question...I wonder if you have many (any?) more "outtakes" from your Benjamin Kritzer books? Could any of those be expanded/worked into short stories? Random vignettes of Benjamin's life? Just a thought.

I've thought about doing a Kritzer short story book - who knows? The story Maddie, in How To Write A Dirty Book and Other Stories is essentially a Kritzer story.

I think the very first concept album I ever got without knowing it was a concept album was a musical version of Tom Jones. It was during the time I was collecting cast albums.

I know loner remember anything about it and it still might be packed away.

I'm hoping today will be a (relatively) normal day tax-wise, allowing me to check in both here and on All that Chat from time to time.

We had a tax-office rush because of the many Passover-observant clients who very logically and understandably needed to have their returns or extensions by today or at the very latest early tomorrow. For the observant Jews, Wed. night into Friday night are observant days of Passover, then Shabbos until Saturday night, no one works on Sunday in the "real world," which would have left only Monday and Tuesday (which everyone agreed was cutting things too close for getting work to clients for the Wednesday April 15 deadline). For anyone keeping track, Tuesday night the 14th to Thurs the 16th are again holy days for the Passover-observant.

Tuesday morning greetings! I'm off to Dayton today for 2 meetings with my grantwriter friends.

My mom and I scratched our trip to Columbus, Indiana, because of the wintery weather. We were supposed to drive over there this evening and spend a couple of days with my niece who's been there since Saturday with the Illinois State University women's golf team. Laura (my niece) and I decided that it's going to be too cold tomorrow to have my mom out and about seeing unique architecture.

The concept of a "Concept" recording sometimes confuses me. I tend to define it as a recoding that's built right from the go-get around an solidifying/unifying idea. But would that include the decision to make an album dedicated to a certain artist or musical style, like Bete Midler singing the hits of Peggy Lee or Willie Nelson singing standards? Can you say that Paul Simon's GRACELAND is a concept album? How about comedy albums like Lily Tomlin's MODERN SCREAM or jsut about anything done by The Firesign Theatre?

I'll be very interested in everyone's concepts of "Concept".

There was also that Disney recoding that came out in the 80's about the same time as RED, HOT AND BLUE, but the name escapes me at the mo'. Tom Waits, James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Buster Pointdexter and even Yma Sumac performed on it. It was a wonderfully whacky recording.

I did not like the last Cabaret, Too Cutesy. Maureen Brennan(she co-conceived the show) has a "look at me,I'm performing" attitude. I would like to know your opinion.
Next Year looks very promising
