Congrats to your DH, DR Ginny!  I had to go back and read the posts to find it.

Thanks, DR Danise!  He wrote his 8th grade career report on being a minister, so I guess this proves it's never too late to fulfill a dream.

DR Elmore, I wish we could go see another opera.  The one we saw was so much fun!

Of course the fact that it was in english AND had Michael Ball in might have had something to do with it. ;)

Back from a lovelier than lovely vocal recital at the [J. Pierpont] Morgan Library.

Back from a lovelier than lovely vocal recital at the [J. Pierpont] Morgan Library.  Up and coming Canadian baritone Russell Braun and American soprano Jennifer Black.

DR elmore3003, I think you will want to see the forthcoming exhibit "Creating the Modern Stage: Designs for Theatre and Opera," running from May 22 through August 16.

And how was Mr. Graae as Frosch?  I would think that he would be incomparably hilarious in the role!

I thought he would be funnier.

I thought it was the company, DR Danise!  :)

The next time you visit, we'll go to the opera.

A question for BK or any knowledgeable Californian...

Is Dana Point, California anywhere near North Hollywood?

I'm reading up on the history of skateboarding and finding conflicting info on who sold the first skateboard.

All the sources say that Bill Richards sold them from Val's Surf in 1959, at Dana Point, but the Val's Surf site itself says they weren't founded until 1962...

Good Evening!

So... I'm almost done packing.  I have a medium load of laundry finishing up, and once those are dry, into my bags they will go. Of course, at this point, it doesn't look like all the clothes that I packed for my trip down to Charleston will fit back in my luggage for my trip back to NYC.  I did buy some clothes while I was down here - just two pairs of jeans and two shirts - but now I'm wishing I had mapped out how I packed everything.  ;)

As for the news, I'm not sure what I can say since I finely gave up and hired a lawyer.

Just be sure the ass who screwed up your life is paying all court costs!

I think I can say that he will and that my lawyer said I should also have a "sizeable" settlement.

Collecting it may be the problem.

Collecting is always the problem.  GOOD LUCK!

I think Dana Point is down near San Clemente where Allison lived at the end of her life.

That is cool how you just asked a question.  I was going to THIS.

That didn't work.  It should show the next stage, after I clicked on "get directions" & put in Hollywood.

Well Dana Point is nearer to North Hollywood than it is to Mooresville, Indiana.

I was also kind of hoping for memories of skateboarding in the 1960s, but gee, thanks so bloody much for just saying, "No, Dana Point is nowhere near North Hollywood."

Well, I think all my clothes will fit back in my luggage.  I just remembered that I had put a bunch of my socks and t-shirts in one of my carry-ons - they acted as a cushion for some of my small electrics.

Whew!

Here's just a teeny-tiny reality check - twenty cases of swine flu do not an "epidemic" make.  There's no way to spin that to mean anything else, I'm afraid.  100 cases would not be an epidemic, not that any but the twenty have been confirmed.  I know what the government has said, but I should think the word "epidemic" is the media's.  I cut no slack to the reprehensible media, I'm afraid.  They should all be drawn and quartered and run out of town on a rail.
