THE MERRY MONTH OF MAY
« on: May 01, 2009, 12:16:37 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were merry and written in the month of May, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - for them it's the merry month of Moo.

Topic of the Day:

In my CD player at work:  "Jonathan Sings Larson" and the just received "Howard Sings Ashman."  I love these kinds of recordings.  The "HSA" CD includes the complete demo of the Marvin Hamlisch/Howard Ashman musical, Smile. ;D

In my DVD player:  the region-2 PAL DVD of "Two for the Seesaw."  It was very cheap.  After that will be "Pineapple Express" from Netflix.

Good morning all.

It's 5:51am in New York and the temperature has gone back to early spring. It's damp and cool.

I'm finishing the oatmeal and coffee and Anthony is sleeping in the bedroom (thank you wireless).

That's all for now.

Very sorry about the developments at LACC, bk.     :(

I hate political stuff like that.   Unfortunately, some human beings have very ugly souls.

I don't know what I'll listen to at the office today as I work on Gordon and Betty Moore.

I'm sitting next to the CD case so I'll choose after I type this.

DR GEORGE taxes are high enough....they should only be paid once, hopefully the "problem" can be resolved easily.  My guess is that it depends on the person assigned the task.

Shocking news about LACC theater department, but not surprising to anyone who has been involved in such a "power" grab.  Sad.

TOD:

DVD - PreCode Hollywood.  Very interesting.  I watched SEARCH FOR BEAUTY.  The naked backsides of a few male extras were gloriously on view for a bit - however I was most distracted by Ida Lupino's drawn on Jean Harlow-like eyebrows....thinner than Clark Gable's moustache, they seemed to stretch from the middle of her nose to her cheekbones on each side.  Also watched part of MURDER AT THE VANITIES which is okay.  DR MBARNUM, if you didn't record all of these movies, the set might be a reasonable investment when used copies begin to show up at Amazon.  I am still amazed and amused at the patriotic Symphony of Fitness!

CD:  Scent of Mystery.

Last night our Spirit Conference went very well.  Nice conversations on both sides of the veil - some mysteries solved and some new mysteries brought up.

We may watch something tonight. It's supposed to rain.

We went out for dinner last night after the laundry. We went to our favorite little neighborhood place Wai Cafe (AKA Cafe L E A N, their spelling and spacing) and had a delightful dinner. We even splurged and shared a dessert (chocolate mousse cake with whipped cream).

The weekend is supposed to be rainy and cool. We need to get the apartment back into order now that it houses two people again so we will probably spend much of the weekend cleaning and reviewing our possessions. Perhaps a trip to Housing Works will be in order.

Let the warmth and heart-centered vibrations that are part of the essence of Leo come into your life through the Moon's dynamic presence. As the Sun sets today - everywhere in the world - the Moon will still be overhead and capable of energizing your most beloved arts, crafts and hobbies. Storm warnings are posted regarding romance tonight as Venus in Aries approaches a sharp square to Pluto in Capricorn. Their precise encounter occurs at 10:07AM PDT tomorrow. Vanquish stress concerning money matters and love ties overnight as a prelude to Saturday's extreme Venus-Pluto

Arise, you prisoners of starvation!
Arise, you wretched of the earth!
You've slept the whole night through!
Good morning!
Good morning to you!

Hmmm...I'm not sure that's how that goes...

Good morning, all! This is a big workday because i've checked my bank account and I am very, very, very poor. I need to generate some invoices  by Monday.

At 11:45 I have the follow-up visit that was cancelled last month so today I learn the results of my colonoscopy. I also have the trip to the post office I missed yesterday. M ost of the weekend, I hope to be proofing a lot of music.

DR JRand58, I do believe my late father paid me a Walpurgisnacht visit. Around 4 am I had a dream in which he played a major role.

TOD:
DVD:  several Netflix items, COPPELIA performed by the Bucharest(?) Ballet
CD: all of the PHI unreleased recordings, Guy Haines, Rebecca Luker, Liz Callaway
    VCR: cheep cheep cheep

Media Check:

CDs:  I have a bunch that I received over a week ago from ArkivMusic that I've yet to listen to or even load up to my iPod:  THREEPENNY OPERA, LAST SWEET DAYS OF ISAAC, JIMMY, LET IT RIDE and HAZEL FLAGG.  Maybe I'll just take them home and play them as I work on my bathroom project this weekend.

Tivo:  A couple of Lionel Barrymore movies from TCM which I've never seen (none of the Dr Gillespie films, though.)

DVD:  LITTLE DORRIT (which I hope to crack open this weekend)
