It was great seeing my friend David this morning for the first time in almost 20 years. His office is just a few blocks away from Chicago's Union Station, so I was able to drop off my bags there. He's in the midst of some big "deal" today - he's in the investment banking business - so we'll finish catching up tonight. And he, apparently, has selected a good variety of restaurants and other culinary establishments for my weekend here in Chicago. :)

I'm having my morning cup of latte.

It's overcast here in Oakland, and rain is in the forecast.  It's slightly warmer today than it has been the past several days.

Hopefully, the day will speed by without too much angst, and the weekend can simply envelop me.

Shayne, it's all the Superman cartoons, from Fleischer and Famous, the same transfers that were in the Superman box, but all together and with a few extras.

I did not bring my camera, so I cannot take photos of my work.

I'm up, and if I'm to jog I would have to be out the door in ten minutes.  We shall see.  It looks kind of grayish outside.

As I was getting off the train, the man sitting next to me, Seņor Leo Torres, asked me to take his picture when he got off the train. This is his first time in Chicago - and only for four hours. He started his route taking busses from Monterey, Mexico, to Houston. Then he took the train to Washington, DC, to visit his son for a few days. Since he had never been to New York City before, he then headed up from Union Station to Penn Station to spend a few days in the Big Apple. Then yesterday, he started his long trek back home via Chicago.

Even though we didn't talk that much during the trip, I felt humbled that he asked me to take his picture. He was just using a disposable camera, and even though I doubt I will ever see that picture, I'm pretty sure that will be the most memorable photograph that I will have taken during this trip.

Even though it's drizzly and dreary out, I need to schlepp over to Borders to see if I can find a copy of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES.  I want to give it to my nephew for his birthday but I haven't been able to find a copy anywhere.  I imagine it's being swept up by English majors everywhere...

I've done a fifth draft on a board letter to rent a building for the County fire department.  It needs to be finalized and in the Board of Supervisors' offices today.

But we're still nitpicking it to death.

I got up out of my chair a few moments ago, walked over to a filing cabinet, and now I'm back at my desk.

The trip to Borders was a success.  Not only got my nephew a copy of P & P & Zs but picked up a copy for myself as well.

A mere 74 years ago today Miss Frances Farmer was enjoying May Day festivities in the USSR, quite possibly standing next to Uncle Joe Stalin as an example of freethinking American youth.

Thanks for the trivia.

You'll be pleased to know it's virtually certain she did not sing any of the McHale's Navy Theme whilst there.

Assuming you meant to type "sing" instead of "sign", but certainly not "certain" because we may have folks who need to "sign" something while washing their hands, I think "Happy Talk" would be a good song to sign or sing!

We had some rain shortly after I returned from running my errands. But the rain clouds seemed to have scattered quickly, and now it's warm. Looking at the pavement, you'd never know it had even sprinkled much less rained pretty hard.
