Hello, everyone.

Back from a day of my own errands and whatnot.

If I know our Hainsie/Kimlets, it's the "whatnots" we're most intrigued by!

You got that right!

How about a trip to the bank, a burrito for lunch, and an unproductive shopping trip?

Oh, those were the errands--you asked about the whatnots. Oh, well.

My whatnots have nothing to do with Frances Farmer, Annette, or Bollywood.

Greetings. It's cloudy in Las Vegas, but since there is really no reason for me to go outside, that's fine

And the gloves come off...Dramatists Guild Voices Objection to Upcoming Tony Awards

Stephen Schwartz, president of the Dramatists Guild of America, issued a statement June 4 objecting to the presentation of the Best Book of a Musical Tony Award prior to the CBS telecast of the 2009 Tony Awards....

In his June 2 statement, composer Schwartz said, "The Guild objects in the strongest possible terms to the exclusion of this award from the live broadcast. We have received assurances in the past that the Tony producers recognize that this is an important award and that they would reinstate it in the show that everybody sees.

"As writers we understand that the television show needs to be entertaining in order to attract and hold its audience. And the Guild recognizes that many of its members' brother and sister artists, from designers to choreographers to orchestrators, will be similarly disadvantaged on Sunday night.

"Nevertheless, the theatre is always spoken of as 'The Writer's Medium,' as was even said in last year's broadcast. So it seems especially ironic that the awards show that purports to represent the theatre gives less recognition to writers than the motion picture industry's Academy Awards.

"We strongly urge that the Best Book Award be put back where it belongs. Live, on the air."

Of course, they've never attracted or held an audience, so they should stop caring, know it's a loss-leader, and do the show the way the Cohen's used to.  It's really that simple.

I'm having a good time in Vegas.  The room is huge! It's over 700 square feet and it's one of the least expensive rooms in the hotel. I'm not complaining. It's a suite and very comfortable.  They told me I could pay extra to have a view of the strip.  I said no thanks. I got a great view of the mountains. LOL, that's worth more to me than looking at the strip

Back from a meal.  God's Little Acre sold out ninety minutes ago - our fastest-moving title, gone in nine hours.  Still available elsewhere although I suspect not for long.

Yesterday I had lunch at noon at Table 10, one of Emeril's restaurants.  I was the only customer until I was almost finished and then one other person came in.  How crazy is that?  The lunch was great.

In the afternoon I hung out around Mario Batali's Bet on the Farm press conference area. It's all about sustainable foods etc.  There was a farmers market right in the Palazzo.  I didn't go to the dinner so I only saw him at the press conference, but it was fun.  Tonight I'm joining a group at Enoteca San Marco http://www.enotecasanmarco.com/restaurant.cfm  It's in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian.  The ceiling is painted to look like you are outside. I'll attach a photo

It's EXTREMELY stormy here and there are indeed MULTIPLE tornadoes up and down the I5 corridor from southern Washington down to Eugene, according to the news.  We lost power a little while ago.  I think it's back on now.  :)

A few years ago, when my sister and her three friends all turned 40, they vacationed in Vegas to celebrate.  During their sight-seeing adventures, they went through this place and loved it!

Repeat from last night:  Does anyone know who the blonde playing Caroline Reeves on the L&O season closer was?  I've seen her somewhere, she looks kind of like Laura Linney.

*I'm answering this query before reading all the "interim" posts. So, my apologies if I'm duplicating any information.

I believe that was Francie Swift (sometimes she's credited as "Francine Swift").  She's done a bunch of guest-starring all over the place.  She was "Holly Frobisher" on "Damages", and she appears to have have a recurring part on "Gossip Girl" too.

It is really cool. I'm enjoying it here more than I thought I would.  I'm not a gambler. I tried to use the slots credit I got for staying here, but I don't really get the slots, so I cashed out at $10 and kept it. Now if I had thought about it, I would have cashed it all out and not played at all, but that's ok. I didn't lose anything

Oh, last night I went to Dos Caminos with a lawyer from Des Moines.   They have the best guacamole made fresh when you order it.

Between the Venetian and the Palazzo there are at least 34 restaurants!~  Of course I have to walk at least 1/2 mile to get to the meeting rooms, so my vote is that it's ok to try as many of them as I can because the walking balances it out

Good Evening!

...And now I'm just waiting to see how our property manager/landlord responds to the email and phone calls we placed to her earlier today...

*Although, since she called me this morning to ask if we were going to renew the lease... When "legally" that should have happened 60 days ago, well... It appears we may have some leeway.  Whew!

DR Cillaliz - If you happen to encounter any singing gondoliers while you're walking around the Venetian, be sure to say "Buon Giorno!" for me.  I have a couple of friends working there right now, as well as the one in Macao.
