But the opening number was supposed to be the best, most AMAZING thing EVER according to those who posted or twittered from the rehearsal.  As to Twitter, dear reader Jose, no, I don't GET IT.  I post, I don't post, but it's nothing like this or any other site.  I don't GET IT.  I'm glad you and others GET IT, but I just don't GET IT.  Facebook I get.  Haineshisway.com I get.  All That Chat I get.  Twitter - I don't GET.

Well, if you don't get it, don't "do it", and stop bitching about it.

However, as a marketing tool, well... You might want to check out the "profiles" for TDF, The Tony Awards, West Side Story, Hair, Next to Normal and almost ever other currently running Broadway show.

How nice to have Bernstein's amazing score relegated to background elevator music.

OK. Not electrifying as it should be. And her voice cracked at the end.

Well... He almost wasn't.

But that's a tale for another night... On with the Tony's!

I don't think he's bad casting, but, of course, I haven't seen the show. I'm only judging by other things I've seen him in.

Always nice to see this number.....  Not as bad as it might have been.  Did they change the time frame of the show?  Some of the costumes seem to be more today than yesterday.....  And how OLD are those guys?  Saw a couple of bald spots on the senior class.

And Maria and Tony certainly are nice looking....

Where are the awards?  I'm seeing commercials and high school musicals passing as touring companies.

I agree about that high school thing.  From the opening number, poor Liza...poor, poor Liza...

By and large, it is pretty difficult to make the energy of a Broadway number "pop" on the television screen as it does in a theatre.  Especially in that barn of a space that is RCMH.

bk - While I was at MoMa, I also was able to take a look at Into the Sunset: Photography's Image of the American West.

In the entry hallway, they had an "enlargement" posted of this:

Which looked like this:

Have you heard of this book before?  Do you have a copy of this book?  *I just checked Amazon and went into $ticker $chock!!

I guess I also don't "get" how it's a marketing tool.  Facebook I get, MySpace I got.  Other places I get.  Twitter I don't get.  Doesn't mean I won't do updates for Kritzerland or Nudie there, but I don't get it and I don't know that it does one bit of good.  But if it makes others happy, then that's a beautiful thing.  In a year or two it will be replaced by the next "thing" and in five years people will be scratching their collective heads as to why they ever thought Twittering was so novel or such a good idea.

DR Charles Pogue

I bought an issue of Creative Screenwriter and they talk about your version of  The Fly and the "lost scene" which happens right after the finale scene. From what I understand there were several variations to the scene and it was ultimately drooped.

Was this in your original screenplay or was it something that Cronenberg added?
