Some of these Jersey Boys seem a bit weak in the voice dept.

If you ever get placed in a rehearsal studio next to "Frankie Camp", well... Let's just say that's quite the aural experience. ::)

We're going to be in Chicago next month for ALA and our hotel is attached to the theater where Jersey Boys is playing - think we'll try to see it.

I thought about seeing Jersey Boys in Vegas. It's at the Palazzo where I was staying, but I opted for Phantom.  I'm glad I did.  I'm still thinking about that theater. What a place.

Michael Feinstein reminded me of what a great song, I Won't Send Roses is.  You wonder if Jerry Herman is sitting backstage listening to the new crop of musicals going: "What is this crap?"

Even Jerry Herman was "crap" at one point and time.

As was Bach... Beethoven... Mahler... Richard Rogers... Stephen Sondheim...

I never found them to be so.  Herman has never been my favourite, but next to some of the stuff I've seen (Rock of Ages?  Please!  It's not even good Rock 'n' Roll), I'm getting nostalgic for him.

I set my DVR to record a half hour longer.  That way, it's all on one recording and there won't be a break when I don't want there to be one. :)

Yes.

I suspect it's a shoo-in!

After hearing that ovation for Alice Ripley, I wasn't sure.

Great speech by Ms. Ripley!  Good win.  So far I think it the most interesting musical I've seen tonight.  Though I think Billy Elliott is probably pretty good.  Liked Best Actor musical win.

So, if the four nominated musicals all get their own segments, why include them in the opening medley, also?

I wonder if they had to run any of those lyrics by the CBS censor?

I would love to know how he prepared for that!!!!!!!

There was a reason why you didn't see him during the last hour of the broadcast.

*Apparently, in rehearsal, he sang some dummy lyrics - courtesy of Thomas Meehan - and the musical arrangement was done by Marc Shaiman.

Yes, Neil Patrick Harris' number was the TRUE hit of the show. I loved, loved, loved it, and he was in grand voice, too.

It was a teaser to get people to stay tuned for the rest of the ceremony.  -And also to give a chance for the casts of all the musicals - nominated and not nominated - to get on stage.
