Oh! Time for The Next Food Network Star!

Yes, it is.

And I have to say that this bunch of contestants actually are "show-worthy" - well, at least after the two or three remaining "dead weights" get eliminated. ;)

I highly recommend the Hot & Sour Soup from Golden Empire Takeout - which is just a block away from me.  It was soooooo good tonight.  Tastes like I got a fresh batch. Not too thick, not too thin. Lots of tofu, veggies, bits of pork, and the right amount of hot and sour.  Very much the $1.50 splurge.  ;)

I'm feeling well enough that I will go back to work tomorrow. Having Friday, Saturday and today to relax and recoup made a difference. I did go out briefly both yesterday and today to the Post Office and the grocery store. I did not encounter a rainstorm. They happened once I was safely back inside the apartment.

Yesterday we had tuna cassarole and a salad for dinner and tonight we had meat loaf with mashed potatoes and sauteed zucchini.

Tomorrow morning I will have my oatmeal with raisins and blueberries (they are back at the Union Square Greenmarket) and a cup of coffee and then I will return to the workforce.

Details at 7am

It always gets better after the first few episodes, but I like to watch from the beginning to get all the personalities etc....

Tonight is also the final on HGTV $250,000 challenge.

When we weren't sleeping we were watching The Forsyte Saga. I have never seen it and I'm quite happy with it. We have watched 9 episodes of 26. I'm looking forward to more.

Anthony is watching PBS Mystery. A new Hercule Poiroit.

We are, too, and have discovered that Harriet Walter is playing the headmistress.  She's one of our favorites for having played Harriet Vane in the old Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries.  Now, I see that she's on Broadway in Mary Stuart.  Has anyone seen it?  I think we'll add it to our list of possibilities for next week.

I know I'm a bad gay man but I would rather eat ground glass than sit through even the opening credits of Bruno. Borat made my ears bleed. I find the appeal of Sacha Baron Cohen incomprehensible. I know what he's trying to do but I don't enjoy cringe comedy like that. I find it hateful and useless in the long run.

Yes, Anthony called me into the room when the credits were running. She and Janet McTeer are marvelous in the show. It's a tour de force for both of them. I recommend the show. You should be able to get tickets at half price.

Clearly, 5 days in NYC will NOT be enough!

I was a Head Master, missy!, not cheap Christmas trash like some Oberlin baritones I could mention but won't since I'm an artiste.

DR JRand58, I just got more PRINCESS AND THE GOBLIN info tonight!

I agree. Well, not that you are a bad gay man, but that that kind of comedy is hateful and not funny.

DR Cilla I'm glad you are safely home.  I'm sure your parents had a wonderful Father's Day.  Vibes for the knee surgery.

Thanks DR Jane.  I do know they appreciate it.  My dad tried to practice his crutches...lol he can't do it.  So, it will be interesting to see how he gets along. I'm hoping he heals quickly

Walkers are much safer than crutches.

I'll tell him that, but I can't possibly imagine him using a walker.  He thinks a cane makes him look too old, so he's going for the crutches.  I don't think he'll last long with crutches

Our pastor's wife was trying to use crutches after her "accident," and fell and broke her wrist.

I'll tell him that. They told him to take his crutches to the hospital. I'm hoping they will give his lessons before he leaves
