Well, you've read the notes, the notes told no lies, and now it is time for you to post until the lying cows come home.

Good morning, all! I am busy today with a Liz Callaway chart. At 10 am I have another blood test. Something's going on that my new doctor is not telling me, perhaps it's a blod sugar level check, but this is my third test in a week and a half. I'm not worried: if it were more serious, i'd know more myself, I do believe. Anyway, I'll tie in my walk with a trek to the medical center.

I just got off a delightful phone call that I wish could have continued longer but I suddenly felt a needed urge to write a few notes in pencil onto score paper.

So I will!

SHOW GIRL arrived at my door on Friday, but because of the busy busy busy holiday weekend, I haven't had a chance to play it until today at some point.

What I have listened to--three times so far, in fact--is ROAD SHOW.  In a lot of ways this one has surprisingly grown on me--I enjoy the songs themselves, along with the performances, orchestrations and vocal arrangements.  Only a few things keep me from completely embracing it--I still think there's no real show there.  I don't find the Mizner Brothers' story all that compelling.  I think the climax of the show is completely ridiculous and the denouement a dull muddle.  And there's also a strange kind of misogyny throughout the recording in the way that all the female voices are ugly, shrill, shrieky and whiney--even Mama Mizner sounds like a harpy during "Gold".  It's as if Sondheim was channeling his own mother's voice this time around.

DR Cillaliz, I also watched THE NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR last night. Except here they are showing it 4 weeks behind (i hate when they do that). So we just saw the first episode, the one with the food networks 16th birthday.

I'll just have to remember to check when the finale is so i don't read about the winner. Looks like an interesting cast this year.

re: my niece's blisters.

My sister said it was worse than what she was expecting which surprised me since i tried to explain it exactly how it was. But after she saw it and got used to it i guess she changed her mind. I think she just was not expecting the one blister to be so full of water. I had described it as being the size of my pinky nail. But i guess she didn't understand how full it was (even though i tried to explain that).

We gave her another shower before she left last night. My sister had bought some waterproof bandages, so she can swimming with her daycare. They are allowed to change the bandage but not put on any antibiotic cream.

Thankfully the blister popped this morning. And hopefully she won't look too beaten up in her bathing suit.

Yesterday afternoon my aunt came over to visit with the baby (my 7 week old niece). And she was wearing such a strong perfume. So i couldn't even sit beside her. I didn't say anything, but she probably thought i wasn't being nice to her. Since i couldn't really talk to her or anything.

I was okay on the other side of the room. I wonder if i should have said something. Although she should remember i'm allergic to perfume.

Hmmm..there's an idea for a musical--ROAD SHOW GIRL!  Carol Channing stars as the little known Mizner sister who sets out across the country as a travelling saleslady, a golddigger, an aviatrix, and finally as a busybody matchmaker.  It's the story of America!

Good morning!

It was slightly overcast this morning when I went out to get the paper (about an hour later than usual, thank goodness for blessed sleep), but the sun is out in full fury now. It is going to be HOT!

Thank you, DR JoseSMonkey, er....Piano :) , for the link to the piece on Miss Marple.

I disagree completely with the writer about Joan Hickson's being chilly. Her Miss Marple is crisp and no nonsense, exactly the way she's pictured in the book. The actresses who try to give her a twinkle are adding an attribute that I don't remember Miss Marple possessing in the books. And if her Miss Marple TV-movies are drab, it's likely due to the drab DVD transfers, all taken from videotape masters and all soft and bland looking apart from AT BERTRAM'S HOTEL which captures those rich interiors of the stately Brown's in London beautifully. Even the beautiful locations in A CARIBBEAN MYSTERY don't come off as they should in the lackluster transfers. But that's not Hickson's fault.
