Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both high and gummy, and now it is time for you to post until the gummy cows come home.

TOD

Can't say that I have a favorite, but I do have a small collection of first releases (not necessary first printings) of the Michael Shayne detective novels. As they were reissued over the years the illustration became in my opinion became more artistically bankrupt concluding with "cheesecake: photography of women (obviously) posed in a way that very often had no relation to the story inside.

In the past I have shown my favorite paperback covers, so this time I will show my newest obsession interest, a series of children's books from the 30s, 40s, and 50s, most by author Ruth Dixon and all with photos by Harry Whittier Frees. the pictures just make me smile.

I loved all the Frank Frazetta & Roy Krenkel covers on the Ace Edgar Rice Burroughs paperbacks from the sixties.  Frazetta Conan covers. The pyramid Fu Manchus.  Weird Tales Magazine covers by Margaret Brundage.

I've mostly seen crawdads in the irrigation ditch when I was little.

I was also going to mention CATCHER IN THE RYE, but the plain red cover--mostly because it was such an iconic cover for years--you could spot it a mile away.

So was I, one of the more provocative covers I can remember from the 1970s.

Good morning!

Not quite as cool this morning, and we have a 40% chance of rain this afternoon. We do have a mostly white sky right now, so who knows if we'll get any rain?

Benjamin Kritzer - the novel.  I saw the cover on Amazon.com and bought the book YEARS before I became a poster here at HHW.

Well, looks like my days off are coming to an end.

And, no, not with THE TOWERING INFERNO. It still has not arrived. The TV box sets for August began arriving this morning. First up is THE LOVE BOAT, Season 2, Volume 2. Haven't watched an episode of the show in many, many years, so this will certainly be a step back in time.
