Um... Wine can and does continue to "age" in glass.  Well, some wines mellow out, while others can turn into vinegar or just "bad wine".

You're right - I mixed up my wine with my whiskey.

Kismetically, one of our local extremely low-budget PBS stations broadcast the Mitzi Gaynor documentary last night.  Unfortunately, they had the sound off throughout.

As for the aged balsamic vinegar, DAW, I buy the cheap stuff and just let it sit on the shelf. In fact, lots of my groceries sit on the shelf.

I know how they feel.

I understand the Pacific Northwest is experiencing record-breaking heat this summer.

That's quite a turnaround, as we here in the Bay Area are experiencing record-breaking cool this summer.

In fact, since I bought my industrial-strength floor fan, we haven't had but one warm day, and it wasn't warm enough for even the highest speed on my fan.

Balsamic vinegar, like wine, will not age in glass, only in wood. The groceries, on the other hand, are not as fussy and, if not frozen, canned, or vacuum packed,  will age just about anywhere.

Good morning, all!

Today at 1:45 I see a new doctor, and I hope this will be beneficial. I wasn't asleep until sometime after 1:30 am, because nothing I am currently taking would kill the pain enough for me to pass out. Around 4:30, I got up and took some more Vicodin and muscle relaxer and slept fitfully until 8:40 or so. I am bathed, shaved, and ready to see the new guy.

I had an inquiry from Brent Barrett about working on the holiday recording and I said yes; I'm not turning down jobs I can accomplish here since I can get around with my crutches and a car service, but I am considering turning down all out of town jobs until I get a clear picture and analysis of my health situation. I'm not even sure if I will be going down to DC on August 13 for the Life Begins At 8:40 reading at the LoC. Hopefully, I will be there.

That leads to your inquiries, DR Michael Shayne, about the revue:

1) Did Ira Gershwin and EY Harburg actually co-wrote the lyrics to together or the wrote them solo?
I have no idea; there are clues in the lyrics as to who may have written what, but I know nothing about the work process with them.

2) Are you including the three songs that cut from the show?
I only know of two cut songs: "I Knew Him When," which is being added to the score, and "I'm A Collector of Moonbeams," which has no siurviving music.
The LoC has as well in its "Life Begins . . ." materials a full score for "It Was Never Like This," but I can find no confirmation it was written for "Life Begins . . .".

& one purely academic: The show was originally going to be The Ziegfeld Follies of 1935----what happened?
I neither know nor care, I suspect the success of a self-help book entitled "Life Begins At 4-" was a large part of the reason.

DR Laura, thanks for the Dakotcelt updates.  What's going on with DR Danise?

Thank you for your responses.

According to the book I have the third song is:

Weekend Cruise (Will You Love Me Monday Morning As You Did On Friday Night)

Wow....not sure which is scarier....the English singing, the costumes, or the choreography.  DR ELMORE - this arrangement is most unusual.
