Outside of SILAS MARNER and THE RETURN OF THE NATIVE, I cannot think of any required reading that I actually did like at that period of my life.

In grad school, I took a wonderful 20th Century French lit class which required me to read novels I would never have picked up on my own - St Exupery's NIGHT FLIGHT and Camus' THE PLAGUE among them - and several plays I had never read before: Anouilh's ROMEO AND JEANNETTE, Giraudoux' ELECTRA, Sartre's wonderful THE FLIES, and Cocteau's INFERNAL MACHINE. The instructor, the late great Stan Luce, was a really fine teacher, and I think it might have been my favorite class in grad school.

I liked BRIDGE OF SAN LUIS REY, DR MATTH.....what can you say?  Different horses for sure.

Shakespeare was tough, although my least favorite READ of Will's would be The Merchant of Venice.

I canceled my order for the slipcover edition of TITANIC THE SHIP MAGNIFICENT and will order the volumes individually.  Volume Two is ready to ship and Volume One ships in September...and it's about $17 less to order them this way.

I must do a whirlwind trip somewhere soon again, especially if such trips have the possibility of turning out as nicely as this week's Pittsburgh trip:  it was one evening, but a full one, with a lovely dinner with Ann Miner, seeing Copacabana at the CLO, and then finally meeting the wonderful td.

Somehow, it doesn't seem whirlwind unless you fly though - the train and car trips to D.C. just haven't had that same feel about them.  maybe it's that those are too simple to get to to be whilrwind.

I need to head downstairs, get laundry ready for washing, and then think about what I'm going to prepare for lunch.

I am officially insane - of course there are no workers - it's Sunday, so no dentist either.  I can't believe I really thought it was Monday.

Other required reading I disliked:
PARADISE LOST (just eat the damned apple!)
MOBY DICK (give me the movie any day!)

PARADISE LOST - I had little problem indentifying with the lead "Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven".

MOBY DICK - just ship the chapters on whaling

How ironic!  I was just looking to order a new Titanic book myself.

One of my favorite Sunday's of the summer.  All-day hydroplane races on Lake Washington; with th Blue Angels Show thrown in, as well.

What is ironic is that after watching the races on TV since I was five; I got to do that commercial shoot from the same place where they launch the hydroplanes every August.

Of course when I was there it was March, and only about 32 degrees.  Today it is expected to be 91 degrees.

I see very little difference between the two days on the lake.

Just went through the fixed book and found about six more fixes, all of which happened when we made the prior fixes.  Once these are done, we should be fine.
