What a coinky-dink!  I've always hated the title Silas Marner, too!   And I never did read it!!        :D

I have no opinion, because I never had to read it. ;)

I can't remember what I was required to read in high school.  Shows how much of an impression they left on me. ::)

Anyway, I have to take and shower and head out.  A friend of mine (who was involved in "Romeo & Juliet") is in three of four one-act plays and today's matinée is the the last chance that I'll get to see her in them.  After that, another "R&J" friend is hosting a murder mystery party.  I've never been to one, so we'll see how I do. :-\

I hope it's fun. :)

We had a slight drizzle early this afternoon to go with the rain we had this morning, but that's all. But it's warm and sticky outside. Typical Southern weather for early August.

Isn't it funny how different we all are! I remember every single book that was required from 9th - 12th grades.

Of course, I knew even then I wanted to be an English teacher, so naturally I was forming opinions on books I liked and would want to expose my students to as well.

and last night we went to see Harry Potter - it was OK but not riveting - important details were changed or ommitted and the Vixter was very dissappointed

Anyway, while I ate lunch, I watched another MURDER SHE WROTE episode. This was an easy one to solve. In it, Jessica's book editor is found dead and the ruling is suicide, but she doesn't think so even though the editor had been displaying some manic depressive issues while they were working to finish her upcoming book copy.

I never had to read Silas Marner - I did have toread The Old Man and the Sea which I absolutely despised

I was not at all surprised to learn the author had committed suicide - anyone who could write a book with such a miserable outlook on life had to be deeply depressed

I spent the remaining three hours this afternoon watching Kurosawa's KAGEMUSHA. He certainly proves (as if any proof were needed) that he can handle both small domestic scenes as well as large scale panoramic battles. Can't help feeling this is still a bit too long. And I much more enjoyed the small scenes rather than the action sequences (though the staging of that climactic battle sequence took guts: showing no battle footage but merely the horrified faces of onlookers and then the aftermath).

I thought an EKG was an electrocardiogram.

I may have my terms mixed up  - the one next week is where they used the sonogram machine to watch how the valves are working - the one on Friday was where they hook up all the little electrical leads and print a readout as to how fast and regular the heart is beating

A few times during that three hours, I punched the audio button to listen to little bits of the commentary. Sounds like it's going to really be a good one. I'll listen to much more of it tonight along with the other bonus features. There appear to be about six bonuses.

I had both of those tests this past Monday, come to think of it. I've had the EKG before, but had never had the sonogram of my heart. Mine was part of the stress test I had to undertake.
