T.O.D.

I would like to be on Britian's Got Talent.  I would act strangely aloof, tell them I lived in a cottage with 27 cats, and then I would flawlessly sing all of the parts to the Quintet from WEST SIDE STORY, at the same time.

We are home.  John's procedure has been postponed until tomorrow and Lauren's sisters are now keeping her company.  Her mother should be there by now, too.

It's time to run with Dixie Bell.

I would like to visit the sets of LOST, HUNG and TRUE BLOOD.

I have not watched any reality shows, unless you count DANCING WITH THE STARS or shows on The Food Network, in which case, I would like to visit with Bobby Flay, Paula Deen and Guy Fieri.

I would like to make a sandwich with Paula Deen's two sons.

I decided that if I'm going to jog it will be after the dentist.  I'm just not in the mood right now, and I had to put labels on boxes, so that they're ready to address later or in the morning.

And just because I don't think I should be the only one who has watched this clip and suffered (not for the faint of heart...)

I am very curious how many of the people here who detest "reality" shows, actually have ever watched any, and what do they consider to be "reality shows."

I myself have no problem being a fan of what I would consider "reality competition shows" which really are just game shows.

To flat out hate or detest "reality shows" seems to be very small minded, to me. I can certainly understand if you are not drawn towards these shows, like I am not drawn towards certain types of programs, but I would never say that I hate Shakespear or loathe CSI: Miami and it's ilk or detest soap operas.

This "reality" genre has been around since the beginning of television from QUEEN FOR A DAY to BEAT THE CLOCK to HOW TO BE A MILLIONAIRE to SURVIVOR. REAL PEOPLE, THE REAL WORLD, CANDID CAMERA...all of that you hate? I just don't understand this attitude.  It is like now when I talk people who "hate" anything in black and white or hate musicals.

I just think it is so much nicer if people keep an open mind to things, and it always shocks me so when HHWers do this.

Ok, I'm off of my soapbox and shall have another cup of Chock Full O Nuts coffee.

I think you need a Starbuck's triple-shot.

I am wondering if all the dear readers who have been congratulating DR Matt H were using the wrong word on purpose. Several people have posted MILLSTONE instead of MILESTONE

In case I read past a previous posting

Here is a link to Skip Kennon's musical HERRINGBONE with BD Wong. It is playing La Jolla Playhouse

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/arts/la-ca-herringbone2-2009aug02,0,1400612.story

You mean you don't read all the posts?!?!?!

;)

*Thanks for the LA Times link. I don't think that one has been posted before. -And did you know that HERRINGBONE was also recently presented at the McCarter Theatre in Princeton, NJ, as well as up at the Williamstown Theatre Festival? ;)

And some people don't read the attached links!

I am a fan of many reality shows. Although to me there are different levels of quality.

My favorite reality show is The Amazing Race. Although i don't think i would do well without sleep. But i bet it would be fun.

My other favorites are Survivor, Top Chef, ANTM, Project Runway, So you Think you can dance, Dancing with the stars ... but since i'm not a model, fashion designer, chef or dancer i probably wouldn't go too far on these. :)

Re reality shows: I think I saw part of an episode of the original Survivor (before I switched channels) and part of an early American Idol (before I switched the channel). I will admit to watching that Grease one for a while when Julianna was on.

Maybe I don't have the attention span to watch tv any more. DR Sandra wonders how I make it through a musical.

And I am quite ashamed to admit it, but several years ago one afternoon I was switching channels looking for the local news, and something caught my eye. It was a lot of crying and wailing, so I stayed tuned to see what was going on. It was "Starting Over," a real train wreck of a reality show, that I watched for the next couple of seasons until it was canceled. I was glad it was canceled, because I got my time back.

I know what you mean, Laura.  I have trouble sitting through an entire movie.  I was so proud of myself on Saturday that I watched the entire THE TIME MACHINE (The original).

Wow, was Rod Taylor one handsome man in his day!

I can relate to what DR MBarnum wrote re: reality tv shows.

I think there are a lot of people who claim to despise them who have never even seen half the shows they proclaim to hate. If someone watches a particular one and dislikes it then i have no problem with that.

But how can people consider The Real World, Project Runway, and the Amazing Race the same. There is nothing about them that is similar.

To me the same way that every comedy and drama is different so is every reality show.
