THE INSTALLATION OF THE DIGITAL HI-DEF THINGEE

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both digital and hi-def, and now it is time for you to post until the hi-def cows come home.

Instillation - must be some new form of installation for the high-tech digital age.     :)

The first novelty song that I actually can identify as such and that I bought was a song that came out after the movie Jaws. The song actually "sampled" other songs. Jaws was being interviewed and his answers were the the song samples. I think the song was called Mr. Jaws

I actually woke up a few minutes before my alarm clock went off, so that was a good sign. But then I checked the current weather forecast for today, and that was not a good sign. The main reason I had planned to head to Philly today was because today was supposed to be "the best day of the week", but now they're calling for rain both here in NYC and Philly. Actually, it's already drizzled a little bit here in my 'hood, and NYC is under a flood watch until this evening. So... No scrapple for me this morning in the Reading Terminal Market. :(

And continuing with the Topic of the Day...

The first one that comes to my mind is "Disco Duck", and then there's the whole output of Weird Al Yankovic.

The installers were supposed to arrive at 7:00 AM.   They were pulling up outside at 6:58 AM.  They are walking in the door with the sink!!!! Gotta go and watch

I love to watch people do handyman stuff, it's how I've learned to do a lot of the things I do, but these guys seem uncomfortable with me watching through the door.  They sound Eastern European - I can't speak any of those languages to explain myself, so I'll just give them some space and wait for a reveal

We have some installation also (actually more like rip-up) here at the office. The carpet arrived on Tuesday. It says on the box that it has to sit in the room where it will be installed for 48 hours. Today the carpet men arrived and are ripping up the old dirty carpet in preparation to installing the new industrial strength carpet squares. They have gone down to the bare floor. I don't know if they will have to sand the wood in prep for putting on adhesive. If so, it will be a noisy day. There has been no indication that I am about to be moved but I would think, if there is sanding being done it would be smart to move the employees in the general vicinity. I'm just sayin'

Good morning, all! I had a horrible night of poor sleep, but I reckon that means perhaps a good one tonight. I'm really sick of all this crap. My first jaunt this morning is to Pearl Paint on Canal Street to exchange some tape and then a meeting at Toyland. After that, it's back here for more work and some phone calls on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA.

My mother loved novelty songs, so we learned them direct from World War 2. The ones she sang the most were "Mairzy Doats" and the one about the thee 'iddle fiddies who swam and swam all over the dam.  From the 50s, I remember the big Sheb Wooley ones: "Chipmunk sng," "Witch Doctor" and "Purple People Eater," but the one I really loved was the "Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini."

I recall a LP recording that came out when I was either in high school or college, entitled SMASH FLOPS.

It contained such delightful tunes as:

"Bon Voyage, Titanic!"
"Congratulations Tom Dewey!"
And once that went something like: "We're waiting for you to really come through and defeat the Sioux, General Custer".

Classics, all.

Wasn't Alan Sherman the King of the novelty song? "Hello Muddah Hello Faddah" has assured me I can never listen to Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours" sd much asd FANTASIA has guaranteed I can never watch the same piece danced without chuckling.

TOD:

Can't name just one, but several have already been named here.  My grandfather taught my mother and her sister many such songs.  They still break out into them today, often in public at at the unlikliest of times.   :)

Good morning!

Seems like it is going to be an overcast day with temps in the 80s. In fact, no 90s predicted until Monday.

Sorry about your night, DR Elmore. Believe me, I can empathize.

I had one of the most horrific nights of my life. Took me two hours to find somewhere in the house and a position to get in where I could sleep. Three hours later, sleep was finished with blinding pain, and I have just been waiting this long, long morning through so I could get to the doctor and hopefully get some answers.

Send up a little prayer at 10:40 this morning that something else can be done. What we've done so far hasn't worked.

To try to keep my mind off the throbbing in my arm, I've been watching my next review project - NCIS, Season 6. Having seen all the episodes during the regular season, I could afford to get up and walk around whenever I felt stiffness and aching that wouldn't allow me to remain seated.

I first heard Witch Doctor and Purple People Eater on the radio - each song had a very distinctive opening so I would listen for them and run to the radio (some Top 40 station) each time one of them came on.

I liked all of the ones already mentioned.....heard and sung most of them.  I also liked All of the Monkeys Aren't in the Zoo and Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It's Flavor on the Bedpost Overnight.

The great thing about novelty songs is that you could hear them once or twice and sing them yourself, they were so catchy.
