Knee vibes for DR JMK....you know Frances' cure for everything?  A tumbler of vodka.  Just don't forget to set the alarm clock so you won't be late for your show.

I saw 2 interesting movies in the past 2 days from the library.

I did not really expect to love either But i ended up really liking them both.

The first is called CROSSING OVER with harrison ford and ashley judd. It's a drama that focuses on many different people And it's about immigration issues in LA. It was quite enjoyable.

The second, I really did not know whether it would be my cup of tea was PAUL BLART MALL COP starring kevin james and jayma mays (charlie from Ugly Betty). Sometimes with comedies i am not sure whether i will find them funny. But this was also a romantic comedy. And i liked it so much more than i thought i would. I"m not sure if others would find this funny. But i found kevin james' character sort of endearing. And i really like jayma mays, who i did not even know was in it.

I also (from the library) got PRISON BREAK THE FINAL BREAK. What an interesting idea (to make a straight to dvd movie explaining how the ending of the series happened).

SPOILERS

I really liked it. We got to see so many of our favorite characters. And it sort of went back to the basics by having michael try to break sarah out of jail.

There were certain things that were obvious if you've watched the show (like who would not be in that parachute). But there were also some really great things.

I do think that anyone could watch this (even without having watched the show). The only thing is they didn't really go into too much detail about who everyone was and their backstories. So i'm not sure people who haven't watched the show would really understand how everyone fits together or what sarah and michael mean to each other.

Need to have an MRI, but they're thinking torn ligament.  I am on Percoset.

Yes HDMI cable.  I also use an optical audio cable from my blu ray player to my RCA Home theater system.  Most enjoyable.

I am now TV hi-def via HDMI cable.  Looks swell.  I called DirecTV to add HD-Net, Universal HD and that package (just 4.00 extra) - they did, but the channels aren't working yet - we did a reset but they're still not coming up - so she's switching me to a tech.

Meantime, I set the HDTV to show regular programming pillarboxed, and HD broadcasts will, of course, display correctly.

Wooo hoooooooo.....as DR MBARNUM wrote yesterday....it took some time for newscasters to get their makeup right for HD....and the HD camera is merciless on older performers.

I think I've finally had my fill of "Farm Town".

There's nothing much left to accomplish...and my earnings are nearing 5 million coins.  And there's nothing to spend it on except seeds to plant more crops to make more money.

For a Beta site, there just wasn't enough planning to see a player through a third month.

DR TCB, loved the photo you posted last night of your Littlest Angel performance. You were cute then and you are still cute now!

When I start agreeing with DR MBarnum, it makes me worry that the world really is coming to an end! He is correct, though, DR TCB. It's a wonderful photo!

Channels are working fine now.  They don't look quite as good as Blu-Ray obviously, but what a difference between standard and hi-def - MGM HD is showing the old Casino Royale, which looks quite nice.

Sorry to add to the "litany of woe" a certain DR complained about, but I could use some major vibage--I have had a tender knee for months, which I just racked up to age and the fact that I walk so many miles for exercise each day.  Well, something major happened last night.  Suddenly I literally could not bend my right knee without an amazingly sharp and painful twinge shooting down the right side of my calf.  I got no sleep last night and am off to an emergency appointment with my clinic.  This could not have happened at a worse time.

ask for an MRI; I'm convinced back and spine problems are the source of all leg and shoulder ailments.

And I just approved galley and cover for the new book, so in a week or so I should have my actual hard copies of both soft and hardcover, and then we'll take preorders and I should have the books in about three weeks.

This is today's rant. I got down to Pearl Paint at 308 Canal Street by taking the No 1 subway to 42nd Street and transferring to the N Train, which let me off at Canal about two blocks from Pearl Paint. Their employees are so polite and friendly and helpful, I was sure I'd gone into another era, time warp, whatever. I got a credit for my wrong order, took an elevator to the fifth floor and bought the correct tape I use for taping orchestra parts.

The problem, after leaving Pearl, was the easiest way to get to 27th Street and Sixth Avenue, so I decided to walk west on Canal to Sixth and pick up a bus.  The walk was a little longer than I thought, and by the time I got to Sixth, my leg was beginning to ache.  However, I didn't know where the Sixth Avenue buses stopped so I had to walk north on Sixth until I got to a bus stop. I finally came upon one just below Spring Street, and there I waited, standing on my bad leg because there was no bench or official sheltered bus stop with several chairs.  The schedule, which is all lies since the MTA board has screwed up the Manhattan transportation, said the No 6 bus came at 11:08, 11:18, 11:33, and 11:48. I arrived around 11:20 so I figured with luck I'd catch one shortly. So, I stood for 20 minutes on my bad leg until at 11:41 a bus showed up. I suspect the MTA asses have cut the buses to one every 30 minutes, but I also think their forcing an old coot to stand uncomfortably for 20 minutes with no ability to sit is both rude and inhumane. I wish the MTA board members all a violent and grisly death ASAP.

MGM HD shows some fun old films...they had CURSE OF THE FACELESS MAN on the other week.

I wonder if I have Universal HD....if they are showing any vintage Universal films then I must have it!

Hmmm...just looked at Universal HD's line-up...lots of sports, newer TV series repeats, and new movies.

The only things I saw that were more then 5 years old were a couple of James Bond movies and the tv series HOGAN'S HEROES.

Not much there for me.

I have UHD but not MGM HD yet.  And yes UHD doesn't take advantage of the Universal catalog, which also owns the pre 1948 Paramount movies....or used to.

Waited for 90 minutes at the MRI place (45 of which I was the only--and I mean only--patient there), and never got called.  So I told them I was done waiting and they could reschedule me.  The Percoset has at least taken the edge off the pain, which is all I'm really concerned about.  The doctor said usually with something like this it's just PT that helps anyway, so a few days to wait for the MRI shouldn't make any difference.

Thanks for the good wishes, folks. I am slightly encouraged after seeing the doctor today. Oh, the diagnosis was upsetting, but if it means some relief, I don't care even if I end up being one of the 10% who need an operation to correct the problem.

I have (he thinks) a herniated disc in my neck. And MRI will reveal much, and I'm waiting for the call to schedule that to be done.

Meanwhile, I've started on steroids for the pain.
