My mom didn't ever pack us lunches for the twelve years in public school. We ate in the school cafeteria if we ate at all.
Like some previous posters, spaghetti was always my favorite meal at school. School cafeterias always served the best yeast rolls in the business, too. Those are my two favorite memories of eating school lunches.
My senior year, I didn't have a lunch period because I was taking an extra class (journalism) since I was serving as feature editor of the school newspaper, and we used that period for preparation of each issue. So the only food I had during the day back then was eating a pack of potato chips and having a Sprite from the vending machine which I would eat walking from the main campus building down the hill, across the practice football/track field, and into the vocational school where band class (my last class of the day) was located. No wonder I weighed about 100 pounds during my senior year.
