The fire was stopped before it crossed the road the photo was taken from.  There were fire fighters from multiple fire departments, 4 or 5 helicopters dropping water from our lake, and air tankers dropping fire retardant.

Keith heard on the news the planes were scheduled to leave the area tomorrow as we are near the end of our fire season.  It chokes me up just thinking of the consequences of this fire had it begun after they left.

While on the cross trainer at the gym Keith had a view of the planes dropping the red/orange retardant & the helicopters dropping water into the smoke.  No wonder he called to check on me.  As I left the trails a tanker, not dropping retardant, flew over my head & then back to towards the smoke.  That plane appeared to be all white.

Keith said he seemed to be the only person at the gym paying attention to the fire.  By the time we both came home there were people stopped all along the roads watching.

MBarnum were any of your family near the East Medford fire?

The speed at which these fires were under control is truly impressive.  We have barely had any rain this summer, combined with the high temps and high winds the Ashland fire spread with incredible speed.  So far it is holding at 153 acres and the Medford fire at 600 acres.

Not so far as I know. Both Dan and Allen live in the suburbs, with no forest areas around, so I don't think the fires would get too close to them.

Thanks DR Kerry.  I walked our road today instead of going to the trails.  Keith was out and said I probably could have gone.  He saw helicopters circling the area keeping watch.

R.I.P John Hart

Wasnt he the actor who played the Lone Ranger for one season between Clayton Moore's long tenure in the part?

Correct. He also played Jack Armstrong in a serial. He did tons of movie and tv.

DR MBarnum the hills of East Medford consists of open, and currently dry, fields.  I'm sure they aren't near the burn area.

Speaking of Allen, we are waiting for a Fed-ex delivery today.

I wonder if any of Allen's Fed Ex route is on fire. I know most of it is "country."

Thanks, DR Jane.  Jayson's temp broke this morning, and staff advised us to go ahead with the procedure, as the next opening would require waiting over a month.

The test found a hernia in his throat.  In addition, they took a biopsy, for which we'll have to wait on the results.  Otherwise, he appears to be comfortable.  Thanks for asking.

I think I may finally be through doing things on this "light" day.  I did do a two-mile jog - I was going to do four but it was way too hot and would have been stupid to try that.  Then I went and had some bacon and eggs, then shipped packages, then did some errands, then wrote a first draft of the liner notes, and did all the other package information.  I'll try to finish all that by tonight and get it to the designer.  So, maybe we'll announce on Friday.

I'm glad he was well enough to have the procedure & is fairly comfortable.  I never heard of a hernia in ones throat.  Is that what they biopsied?

My computer is frozen once again & Keith is using the laptop outside.  It is too hot in Keith's office for me to continue using his computer, not that I enjoy using it to begin with.  It gives me a very sore left shoulder & neck.  I just came to check on Jayson.

T.O.D. Part 1

When I was in the Fourth or Fifth Grade, I made my own first raido - which was a Crystal Set.  I used it quite a bit during grade school.  Sadly, I believe it was lost with the Titanic.

Thanks for the birthday wishes DR George.

And THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the DVD of GLEE!  It was commercial free to, which we both appreciated.  Last night we watched the pilot you sent.  Keith loved it, to my pleasant surprise, and we immediately watched the season premier.  If not for you we would we would have missed this show.

OMG!  I totally forgot to acknowledge that I got one, too.  FOR-GIVE ME, GEORGE!!!!!  And thank you.

Gutters are sparkling and clean, shades are fixed, and I'm done with work for the day, until later tonight when I'll proof and revise my liner notes.

The BIG Do for the press is tomorrow at noon but I was very happy watching the rehearsal of several numbers from the show. I'm getting excited, I gotta say, about this production and I hope it's a huge success. I had a nice talk with my old friend Kevin Ligon, who plays either Shears or Robust, I forget which, and is standing by for Senator Billboard Rawkins, and got a big hug and kiss from Terri White, whom I've known since she was the original Joyce Heth, the World's oldest Woman, in the Broadway cast of BARNUM.  I had several friends in the cast and one of my best freinds from college was Glen Close's dresser on the show.

Tomorrow, the lumber store first thing and then a trip to the Finians on Broadway office to finish off some paperwork and submit an invoice.
