Well, you've read the notes, the notes were brassy and tacky, and now it is time for you to post until the brassy and tacky cows come home.

Good morning, all! In a very few minutes I will run up to the lumber store and pick up my two pieces of plywood and bring them back here. After that, I will head down to the Finians on Broadway office and deal with contracts and invoices. I think I will then run over to Local 802 and give the Music Prep dept. the signed contract and copy of invoice.

Then, when I return, I will fix the bookcases and get back to work on FINIAN'S RAINBOW. At some point I need to have a phone conversatin with Jeff Saver who's asked me about working on TIME AFTER TIME, his musical with Stephen Cole.

BK,

I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoyed both VANTAGE POINT and QUANTUM OF SOLACE...for what they were:

Mindless Entertainment.

Good morning!

More overcast skies, but it seems a bit warmer and more humid today which didn't make for a pleasant walking experience this morning. By Friday, temps will be more moderate. But today and tomorrow will be warm

I found more to like with VANTAGE POINT than I did QUANTUM OF SOLACE. That James Bond movie just wore me out within the first half hour. I enjoyed the multiple points of view of VANTAGE POINT, and the cast was great.

And the Blu-rays of both were stupendous.

Today I will tackle "Eclipse series 18: Dusan Makavejev Free Radical," the latest Criterion set which is due to come out October 13th. Since the first two films are not long at all, I will do them today, the first this afternoon and the second in the early evening. I'll finish up the set tomorrow afternoon.

From his two films I've already watched and written about, I have to say I'm not looking forward to these, but since they're his first films, maybe they won't be quite as weird and desperate to make an impression. We'll see. It should be an adventure nonetheless.

Tonight another new episode of GLEE which I'm looking forward to. I'm going to sample the ABC sitcoms that come on opposite GLEE: MODERN FAMILY and COUGAR TOWN (though I won't see them until I eat lunch tomorrow).

CBS' schedule is all returning shows with their season premieres tonight.

NBC has the poorly reviewed new show MERCY and LAW & ORDER: SVU on its new night and time.

I'm heading downstairs now to do Stretching Exercises Part II (I have so many that I split them into two parts and do each part twice a day).

Then, I'll watch another Sherlock Holmes/Jeremy Brett episode. I also plan to watch COMMUNITY from On Demand today while I eat lunch.

Dit-three. If I wanted car chases that obeyed the laws of physics I'd watch CNN.  These films never promised to be more than live action cartoons. Well produced mindless entertainment can be just what's needed on a dreary Friday night.

Let's see:

9PM:
Modern Family
Glee
L&O-SVU
Criminal Minds

A justification for our having two TVS with HDTV Digital recorders.

I notice that MERCY has no dramatic competition in its 8PM slot, so I'll give it a try.

Hmmmmmmmmm......I think I passed on Vantage Point - but I did enjoy QUANTUM....but then I think Daniel Craig is a fine James Bond.  I must say I liked his first outing CASINO ROYALE more.

FINIAN'S RAINBOW......always seemed kind of a meh story to me.  I have only seen the movie and heard the OBC once.

But the songs.....oh the songs!  I have listened to the soundtrack so many times....I love the songs.  I bought the LP for fifty cents and it was years before I saw the movie on late night television.  I had already imagined the choreography in my head.....so I was most disappointed in Mr Pan's work - he indicates EVERYTHING and it's most distressing.  And Silent Susan or whatever her name is seems to be a dumb character....but anyway.  THE SONGS!!!!

I look forward to seeing how DR ELMORE'S new revival fares....and of course of seeing him onstage accepting the Tony Award!
