I just put another batch of blueberry muffins in the oven, because tomorrow is DS Rob's second first day of school this fall.  He's starting his last quarter at the University of Cincinnati and will (we fervently hope) graduate with a BA in philosophy on Dec. 12.

Thank you all for the kitten vibes. Honestly, I didn't think it would be so hard this time.

Hooray, I'm home and I'm not tired.

So for me it's movie time.   Contact, one of my favorite feel better movies, and ice cream and pumpkin spice white chocolate cookies.   The heck with my conjested head.

Then I can take a couple of hours and catch up.

Hope everyone has a pleasant evening.

Question for Jose,

a middle aged married couple who work with Woody are planning trip to NYC. The mister thinks it would be fun to go to a cabaret.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

der Brucer

I'm not Jose, but, Jason Graae is playing The Metropolitan Room. . .

The cabaret scene here in NYC is pretty good right now.  Far from what it used to be, but there are some decent options most nights of the week now.  It all depends just how much of a cover charge and food and/or drink minimum that willing to pay.

The Metropolitan Room is my favorite spot right now. Good acts, reasonable cover charges, and the two-drink minimum can be met with soft drinks or even bottled water. *And they serve cakes and pies from The Little Pie Company.

On the higher end of the scale, there's Feinstein's, and if they feeling like putting down a down-payment on a small apartment, there's always the Café Carlyle.

For everything else in between, there's:
Don't Tell Mama
The Triad
The Triad
The Algonquin
Birdland
Etc., etc., etc...

Well, I'm Off to See the Wizard of Oz!  I need to stop at home first, but then I'm going to the theater.  I have my DVR to record two shows tonight (I forget which), but then I'm off.  I can't imagine that it'll sell out, but you never know.

Have a good rest of the evening, all!

This article from the NY Times may be of interest - but, hopefully, not concern - to some DRs..

Tie to Pets Has Germ Jumping to and Fro

"For decades, the drug-resistant germ called MRSA was almost exclusively a concern of humans, usually in hospitals and other health care settings.

But in recent years, the germ has become a growing problem for veterinarians, with an increasing number of infections turning up in birds, cats, dogs, horses, pigs, rabbits and rodents. And that, infectious-disease experts say, is becoming a hazard to humans who own or spend time with these animals.

“What’s happened for the first time that we’ve noticed is that you’re getting flip back and forth,” said Scott Shaw, head of the infection control committee at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.

It is unknown how often pets play a role in human infections by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vice versa; physicians and veterinarians do not routinely trace such infections to their source. When such scientific sleuthing is conducted, however — usually in the case of multiple or recurring infections — the results suggest a strong link...."

Mr. Handy Man was here and doing the last of the shade job.  Then he tried to help my car, but there is no helping the problem, I guess.  Some of the paint on the roof has, what he says, oxidized, just in two spots but it looks like sandpaper and not very attractive.  Why it only happened in those two spots is anyone's guess - there are no other problems on the entire car.  He used something called a clay bar, which usually works, but didn't because apparently the paint they used has clear coat or something.  If anyone has any clew how to deal with this problem, please let me know.

Car paint will do that.  All it takes is one little "hole" or "crack" in the finish for some water to start to creep in and start eating away at the paint.  If you're that concerned about the appearance, take you car into a dealership or auto-body shop.  And if you haven't had your car washed and detailed regularly, well...
