On Christmas Eve, 1955, there was a flood in Yuba City, California.  Two months later, on February 25, 1956, Walt Disney sent the Mouseketeers and other staff members to town for a special belated Christmas celebration.

Actually, I had to spend my paycheck on my upcoming trip to Sacramento.

Is the trip for pleasure or work?

elmore - I know my Oxford plan has a 30-day grace period from the official "due date" marked on the monthly bill they send; maybe your insurance co. has a similar grace period??

I am at the end of the grace period because I had to fork out $3000 last month for estimated IRS and state income tax. There's no way with my current debt from being down a month that I could hand out an addtional $2000+ for health insurance. I honestly thought I would be paid by now for the recording.

Have you called & inquired if they will give you an extension?  With the economy the way it is it is possible something can be worked out.

You know, I always did go for the "nice boys."

Donny Osmond is not one of the 50-year-olds who drops dead of a drug overdose.

One of those Mormons, ya' know...

I'm not Mormon, but there's something to be said for clean living.

Very true, and as a community they are very helpful to each other, or their friends.  Keith is constantly thankful for the strides they have made in genealogy research.

The saga continues; now i'm embroiled in a situation with the NYC Gay Men's Chorus. In the 1980s I wrote a piece for their chamber choir, "Appalachian Carols," which I dedicated to my Dad. In 1990 or so, my publisher took the carols into their catalogue, and about four years ago I revised them before they were typeset. I consider this version definitive.

The Chorus, without advising me last month, decided to perform the carols in their holiday concert, which makes me happy, but they had someone set the original copy they had into type and the Chorus is rehearsing the earlier version. I'm disturbed because it's a copy I would not have allowed to be digitized and all my inquiries about unauthorized illegal copies getting passed around has me very perturbed. I've asked them to stamp the copies "DO NOT DUPLICATE" or with something implying their illegality but my inquiries to the Chorus on what's goign on are being brushed off. I am not happy, and, while I have no wish to back the Chorus into a corner, I don't like decisions made about my property without my involvement.

They pay for the board members to attend the board meetings, but not to attend the conference. If I was named a delegate by my church, my church would pay my way. But as a conference officer, I cannot be a delegate but must attend.

I have a routine check-up scheduled with my doctor for the day after we return from NYC.  He and I had talked about my having my flu shot at that appointment, but I just moved that up to next week.  I thought it would be a good idea to be immunized before flying on airplanes and sitting in theatres with crowds of people.

Ginny, I went to a Walgreens for my flu shot. Don't grocery stores also have clinics where you live?

I just send an email asking about conference expenses to the district office. Maybe they'll say they'll pay my way. I doubt it.

Yes, Richard has his flu shot at Rite-Aid last week, but with my history of respiratory problems (including pneumonia) I'm not comfortable with that.

It takes two or three weeks to get immunity. When is your trip?

Can't you just walk in to your doctor and have them give you the shot, since you have an appointment scheduled?

My DH waited until his doctor appointment to get a flu shot, only to find out they were out when he got there. So he ended up going to Walgreens anyway.

DR Laura - I asked if I could just walk in and they said you have to see the doctor.  And I'm having the shot 2 weeks and a day before we leave.
