Last night's Project Runway was a team challenge, which I don't care for.  And there were some very delusional design pairs on view.....

I do agree with the judges' decision in who should go home, not sure I agree with their choice of winner.

The one who escaped ouster has been doing excellent work every week.  This person is very, very, very, very lucky...and got a reprieve, I'm certain, based on past designs.  But they won't look the other way a second time, I'm equally certain.

Evicted person was strong in the first few weeks but this is the second week this person has been really sucky.  Wasn't surprised, or sad, to see this person go.  WISH, WISH, WISH this person's gossipy, bitchy  partner had gone, too.

The best advice is not to put oneself in a position where blackmail is possible.

Oh, sure, now you tell me!

You don't need to worry. Everyone already knows you're a lesbian.

The rehearsal was tense this morning, fraught with problems, but after lunch break, the cast arrived, along with all of the producers, the band played well, and everyone was all smiles afterward. Cheyenne Jackson likes my work. Everyone loves the orchestration of the drunk scene.

I do have several fixes in a couple of numbers, but I think we're in good shape. On Monday morning, I have sound checks and a run through of Act One in the afternoon.

And my review on Amazon.com is now posted.

You know...I don't think that I've ever actually seen a picture of a real kumquat before.  Weird, huh?

Hey, everyone!   Guess which movie is now available for pre-order at the WB Archive?         :D

According to our Judy Expert (Anthony) this is not a picture of Judy from Everbody Sing. It's a picture of Judy from Broadway Melody of 1938 (made in 1937) where she SINGS Everybody Sing!

Well, so much for a day off - tomorrow and Sunday - NO WORK!  After the jog, I did my several errands, then had some mac and cheese at Hugo's while doing a little work.  When I got home, I named the track titles for the second half of our next release, plus did an edit road map of it for the mastering guy.  Then I sat down with a DVD of the first film, and gave track titles to that and did a new edit road map with the track titles, so hopefully he'll be able to have this by Monday or Tuesday, at least in some form to listen to.  One of the scores is easy, but the other is on three-track tapes and has to be mixed (not that difficult save for figuring out where the instruments go in the stereo spread).  You see, these three-track film recordings from that era were not really intended to be mixed for stereo - they did it to have some control over the blends when things would be mixed to mono, but since we do have the tracks, I like to put it in stereo - more fun.

Here's elmore's wonderful review from amazon:

A very good person involved with the Hollywood Historical Society has been found dead, and teenage journalist/sleuth Adriana Hoffstetter refuses to accept the coroner's ruling on the cause of death. Luckily, it's Christmas vacation and she has time on her hands. This is Bruce Kimmel's third mystery featuring the delightfully eccentric Adriana Hofstetter, and, while the book will appeal to young readers, like the first two in the series, a major part of the book's success is that it's really written for the eccentric teenager in many adult readers: she loves old movies, historic aspects of her hometown, period fashion, her cat, her mother, and her gay best friend Billy Feldman. While she can be an aggressive interrogator working on her case, she's a model of good breeding and politeness, something a major suspect in this book severely lacks. Wise beyond her years, she suffers fools with a sense of humor and tolerance.

The first two Hofstetter mysteries were fun, but Mr Kimmel finds his stride here and makes a great success of his material, his heroine, and his supporting cast. I find his portraits of retired directors, film scholars, hangers-on, and letches the best and most amusing list of suspects in all three novels. For film buffs there is the added interest of the possible inspirations for these colorful characters, and i have my thoughts on the matter.

If you have a teenage daughter, niece, granddaughter, godchild, or friend, introduce her to Adriana Hofstetter. And buy a copy for yourself. And, Kimmel, I'm waiting for No. 4!

Question for BK:

Is there any possibility that the Hoffstetter books' stories might translate to the musical stage?

DR Cilla what happened with the space in the building you coveted?  Never mind, I read why you aren’t taking that one-LOL.

Good luck finding a space you love!

I think I've found the space I want. It happened in a funny way. I approached a friend about office sharing yesterday, he wasn't interested but said he'd look. today he got in a dispute with his land lord and came to look at space I've already looked at  His attitude took me a bit by surprise, he clearly seemed to think he would have the lions share of the space and I'd have a little bit of it.     I immediately realized I really don't want to share and I do want that space.

It's in my building and the building manager takes off on Mondays and Fridays, so I'll approach her again on Tuesday. I've checked the comps around downtown - lots of space and rents going down and I have the average per square foot rate for the past year.  This space has a not so good view, but plenty of natural light and it's good sized, quiet and private and already has a good lay out.

The nice thing is that the space is empty and unlocked and I was told I could go see it any time I want to, so I've been in there a number of times, with the building manager, alone with Edith, with Edith and the maintenance man who would do the build out - if necessary, with my friend and alone.   Every time I go there, I like it more and see more possibilities. Edith likes it too and says it feels really comfortable.  It's 1820 square feet -plenty of room for the expansion I think will happen in the next couple years. I am very excited.

I hope they'll accept my proposal.
