Oh...

While talking with my parents earlier today, I did find out that all of our relatives in the Philippines are safe and sound and relatively high and dry.  That was very nice - and comforting - to hear.

Very good news!

Great!  I like this show, a lot!

Well, I'm off to my sisters.  She got one more bar stool that needs to be put together.  Since I don't have anything better to do...and I put the first three together...I'm assembling the fourth.  It's actually quite easy, now.

Until later!

I'm trying to distract myself, DR Kerry, but all I might happen tomorrow morning...

However, I'm glad I stepped out a bit earlier. I dropped in on a friend right before he left for a weekend trip.  And then I headed on down to Union Square to say Hi to the Doug and Bryan at The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck.  And then I just sat on a bench in Union Square for a bit.  It was a beautiful night to just sit and be a part of The City.

-And, lo and behold, as I was leaving Union Square, I happened to run into bk's personal friend, Walter Willison.  ;)

DR Jose - I'm glad to hear that your parents are OK.  That sounds just like something my mother would do.

I mean...it's not like parents expect their adult progeny to keep them fully informed.

der Brucer

JOSE-

I'm Happy To Hear That Your Parents are OK

I know what you mean.  My mom takes her time telling me things.  Back in the late 1970s, it took her two and half pages of a letter to let me know my great-grandmother (maternal) had passed away.

In the 1990s, it took her a page and a half to let me know my beloved cat Dickens had been struck and killed by a car.

I prefer now to speak with her by phone at least once a week.

Still...I'm always braced to hear, "I died last week.  Had a nice funeral."

Years ago, my mother was called to serve on a state grand jury. She and my dad had to spend several days in Columbia, SC. During the time of their stay, my mother got mugged, knocked down, and her purse stolen. They didn't tell me anything about it until MONTHS after the fact.

I'm guess this is a case of company loves misery?  ::)

Thank You for sharing your parental "adventures", DRs Ginny, DERBRUCER, Ron Pulliam and MattH.

My parents were in the hospital, at separate times, and didn't let us know until we called looking for them.  I think parents wait for their children to call before telling him anything ;)

Poor DR DiL Ioana wasn't told her dog had died until she went home for a visit & couldn't find her dog.  Her mother is super sweet & wonderful.  Her fault is she can't bear to tell her only child any bad news.

In other news...

I have five or six mosquito bites on my right arm, and one of my left.  All the bites are right "above my elbow". ???  -And I think I got them while I was sitting on my couch last night here in the apartment.  :-\

Dear MBarnum;

Note #1 (family version) If you are not happy here MOVE OUT.  No one likes a gestapo living next door.

Note #2 (family version)  DUMB A-- B----.

Seems that for $1200.00 a month I am not entitled to complain about being engulfed inside my own apartment by the smell of incense to try to cover up the smell of p--. (family version).

And of course they are paying a lot less rent than I am.

This has only been happening since they fired the manager who had been here for 35 years, and hired a young girl, who is not allowed to do anything without getting permission from the new management company.   Who was given power of attorney by the children of the owner (who is maybe 85 now).

Also, people with a medical marijuana license do not leave notes.  Only bullies do.

End of rant.

I must not have anything else to say on the subject. Must not. Must not.

So have NCIS: LA and THE GOOD WIFE.

When I went back down, I watched HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. The very haphazard, messy denouement makes more sense each time I watch the film (and I read the book!), so I am glad I watched it again. I really did despise Delores getting the best of the students for so long. What a marvelous performance in the film!

Greetings from Viroqua Wisconsin.  We had a long, but beautiful day getting here. On a whim we stopped at the Spam museum in Austin MN.  What a kick.  It was actually a pretty cool place. Then we took a scenic byway that was incredible. I had no idea Southeast Minnesota was qute so cool. We then drove down the Minnesota/Iowa side of the Mississippi River to Lansing, crossed to De Soto Wisconsin and up to Viroqua.  It was much longer than the direct route but welll worth it.

We had a great time with Adam Sundee and Gabe.  I'm really tired. I haven't caught up with today's posts or yesterdayu's posts, so congrats to those doing well, thanks to those congratulating me foon the office  and VIBES to all who need them.

Tomorrow should be fairly relaxing jsut hanging out with family and seeing the area.  Cool little town.

Then I watched today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Fun seeing Fish, Kyle, and Nick in the same plot and not directly related to their love triangle.

And then I had to watch something "live" at 9 p.m. so I chose GREY'S ANATOMY (I had been watching SUPERNATURAL, but I decided I wanted to have it on the DVR so I could rewatch portions of the show which I especially enjoyed.)

ENjoyed the show with some surprise moments for many of the regulars. Nice I see how they're going to allow Ellen Pompeo her maternity leave without resorting to some lame kind of excuse for her not being around. Very well thought out.
