Is this a quote from a review of  John Gilbert "talkie"?

I think the networks are all in cahoots with AT&T U-verse....you need that service to get their record-four-channels-at-once DVR to keep up on Thursday and Friday nights.

Well two HDTVs both connected to two channel DVRs works for now.

Well... I was going to head back down to Richmond this weekend... And then I wasn't... And, now, it looks like I will again... And most likely later tonight.  So... Time to get things together.  Again.

Hello, everyone.

I survived the Attack of the Vampire, although my neck is still a bit sore. (Lots of needles.)  No problems from Awful Ava, the nurse, who just sat there, doing absolutely nothing, but apparently that is what she was supposed to do. I spoke to the surgeon a bit. He said it looks like a cyst (best scenario), but, of course, we won't know until we get the biopsy report back next week.

I didn't sleep well last night and am feeling VERY nappish. In fact, I feel like just wussing-out and that is what I shall do.

Thank you again, DRs, for all your support.

Good morning, all! I am off to another day of the McGlinnventory. Yesterday I discovered in one of the boxes a vocal score for Bizet's opera La jolie fille de Perth that I had loaned John around 1990. It's nice to have it back.  After that, I am having lunch with several coleagues from the PHI project. At 4:30, if my discomfort level from the shoulder pains is good, I am seeing the NYMF production of THE LAST SMOKER IN AMERICA because I like the title song, which Emily Skinner, I believe, recorded. I'd like to see FINIAN'S RAINBOW tonight to see if the original finale is back.

Last night was a creepy nightmare night, a series of dreams about staying in an apartment with a hostile ghost who wanted me out. Perhaps this is prompted by the thought that my friend Matthew and I may see PARANORMAL ACTIVITY tomorrow afternoon, or perhaps it's the approaching Halloween season.

DR vixmom, I don't know yet if I will catch the show at next Saturday's matinee or just meet you afterwards. I can't plan that far in advance at the moment.

TOD:
DVD: Lord lord lord! Those three Netflix items still sit here unwatched and other things are piling up.
CD: Guy Haines, Liz Callaway's new album, 18th Century Shakespeare songs, The Spectre's Bride
    VCR: the usual suspects

elmore, are you sure you should be going to see PARANORMAL ACTIVITY?

Richard Heene obviously thinks it's supposed to be all about "him".   My guess is that if the law concurs that he staged this little "adventure", it will prosecute him for perpetrating a fraud and charge him for all the manpower/resources costs of tracking the balloon and retrieving it.

One can only hope.   This instant celebrity and news media frenzy has reached incredibly sick proportions.  I think the media should be reprimanded and slapped silly.  That guy on CNN - what an ASS.

I didn't get those remastered GIGI and AMERICAN IN PARIS discs on DVD; I only had the original DVD releases for both of them, but to me the Blu-rays were MAJOR upgrades to what I had. I think PARIS is the better of the two in terms of video quality. I understand GIGI's original elements were in very bad shape.

At any rate, the only thing I hated about PARIS was the weak audio track (not a lossless encode but a low bitrate Dolby Digital track that sounded like it was the same as the orignal DVD track. Unworthy of an HD upgrade. Sounds is JUST as important as picture.)

While they would like you to think the Gigi elements are in bad shape it is clear that the only thing that was in bad shape was someone's knowledge of color.  The elements for Gigi are fine - I saw a newly-struck print about ten years ago and it looked swell.  They simply made it too brown.  But I think all my bitching about this may have finally begun paying off - because either someone got sacked or they've gotten someone in there who knows what color should look like (not brown) - the Wizard Of Oz disc has terrific color as does The Grinch and several other Warners transfers of very recent releases.

We got to Grant's at eleven.  Grant couldn't get the files to open.  He's completely renovated his studio and things got plugged in and put together differently.  When something isn't working the way it's supposed to Grant always goes to the "I can't figure it out" place - he called his guy who did the wiring and couldn't get him on the phone.  Meanwhile, Niki and I went and got a sandwich.  When we came back an hour later everything was working.  Grant finally just turned all the equipment on and off a few times and that fixed things - go know.  The actual recording went really fast - Niki, of course, knew the songs perfectly and she did most of them in one beautiful take.  I'm so glad we've got these now.  I'll be going back, hopefully on Sunday, to mix the new tracks and to record the new Eunice song and to re-record Doing Porn with its new tune.

Truthfully - usually not. He has the kitchen TV to keep him occupied and he is usually a fan of some of what I record in the Livng Room - to night, Ugly Betty and Stargate-Universe). I'm never recording anything that competes with something he wants to watch. When he is disatisfied with my choices (which is usual) he retreats to the Bedroom and watches DVDs - the BR rig has the Blu-Player attached, and can display the DVDs while still recording two shows.

Went to visit my father at the hospital and received good news. He will be coming home this evening and receiving home nurse care for the next while. Thanks to Socialize Medicine. Although it was disheartening to see all the people in emergency though

Well. is IMDB is right you'll be a basket case:

Quote
After just witnessing a special showing of this spectacularly terrifying film, I can say without a doubt, that I will not be sleeping tonight.
...

Rarely do films leave me so terrified that I am shaking after they have ended. Paranormal Activity is an exception to this.
