Scientology seems to be having some bad days.  Travolta may be leaving, Anne Archer's son stormed out of a Martin Bashir interview when Bashir dared to ask him about Xenu and volcanoes, and now Paul Haggis has left due to the "church"'s stand on gay marriage.  Somewhere Frances Farmer is laughing manically and downing a heavenly vodka tonic.  ;)

I was kind of hoping his son's death would get Travolta out of the church - we shall see.  Would hate to see him end up a casualty.

DR JMK - the church was also fined $900,000 in a French court for duping followers.

I'm up.  I got another four hours so I should be fine.  One little dream I had within the four hours was that someone bought me some raisinettes.  Apparently the kind we used to have as kids - huge ungainly things and, of course, nothing like we had as kids.  Go know.

I have been looking at the souvenir book from PROMISES PROMISES in NYC.  Was Edward Winter really that devastatingly handsome in person?

I wonder how much longer I will be able to continue biking outdoors.  For sure once the snow starts.  I don't mind it if it's cool out. But i don't like driving in wind.

Today wasn't bad although it felt cold. I think it was 9C (which is high 40s). yesterday it was 6C but not windy at all, so it actually felt warmer.

The best thing i got this year were earmuffs at the dollar store. They go behind your head so they don't interfere with the bike helmut!

DR Ginny and Richard are in a taxi and off to La Guardia. they arrived with lots of luggage around at a little after noon. DR Jose arrived ahortly thereafter and we all went to Artie's for a tasty lunch. It was wonderful to see them, and they both got a peek at my apartment for the first time. DR Ginny asked about the MBarnum memorial fire escape.

After lunch, we stopped in Holy Trinity Church so Richard could check out the interior and I lit a candle for Michelle Nicastro. Then they and DR Jose loaded up their luggage and we went down to the street to find a taxi. We succeeded. They are on their way to LaGuardia and Jose is off to other places and good times.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Travel Vibes to DR Ginny and Richard! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Shipoopi and Marian the Librarian from THE MUSIC MAN
Fred Astaire's Audition Dance from YOU WERE NEVER LOVELIER
Sonny Lamont's tap number atop the piano in TO BEAT THE BAND
pretty much anything by The Nicholas Brothers

I never understood the wisdom of cutting the musical numbers out of a musical.

I vaguely remember reading something about the worst editing of a movie in the Guiness Book of World Records.  It could've been just a suggestion for the book...or maybe it's an urban myth.  Anyway, a theater is some Asian country (I forget which) was showing the movie, "The Sound of Music" and they cut ALL the songs!  I don't know if it's true, but that's what I remember reading.

Although I had stated I was dropping the show, I had some free time this morning, so I watched SUnday's episode of THREE RIVERS on HD On Demand, and it was very moving. Glad I watched it. Don't know how much longer the show is going to run, but I guess I'll continue to watch it On Demand as long as CBS puts it there.

Topic of the Day:  every year at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, they have their big fund raiser called CenterFest.  They used to bring in a big name (Bernadette Peters, Wynonna Judd, The Pointer Sisters, etc.), but they found that the big names cost more than what they make, so for the last couple of years, they've only had a big party for the monied people (and it'll probably stay that way).  One year, they brought in Gregory Hines.  He was fantastic!  He sang and danced with a band behind him.  The energy that he had was incredible!  And then brought up tappers from the audience and worked with them.  It was wonderful.  He put on one of the best shows that I had seen there.

But then he died later that same year of liver cancer (according to IMDb).  Who knew that he would die so shortly after being able to put on that kind of show. :-\

I meant to mention yesterday that the premiere of WHITE COLLAR last Friday got sensational ratings. I'll be curious to see how much of the audience sticks around for the next episode.
