Topic of the Day: every year at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts, they have their big fund raiser called CenterFest. They used to bring in a big name (Bernadette Peters, Wynonna Judd, The Pointer Sisters, etc.), but they found that the big names cost more than what they make, so for the last couple of years, they've only had a big party for the monied people (and it'll probably stay that way). One year, they brought in
Gregory Hines. He was fantastic! He sang and danced with a band behind him. The energy that he had was incredible! And then brought up tappers from the audience and worked with them. It was wonderful. He put on one of the best shows that I had seen there.
But then he died later that same year of liver cancer (according to
IMDb). Who knew that he would die so shortly after being able to put on that kind of show.
