Today I went for a hike in the Superstition Mountains. And I forgot to take my camera.

I had a great lunch with George and we laughed a lot over gossip and dish about John McGlinn, the Signature Theatre, a trip to Africa, the tour of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, friends and what they are up to, and our places in the cosmos. George is soon off to play Captain von Trapp in Houston for the holiday and we promised to see each other in 2010 when he returns.

Anyone at Signature talking about a Randy Newman project yet? I've heard rumblings about it...

Unless there happens to be another Randy Newman project in the works - and there could be - I think the rumbling you've been hearing will be debuting in Los Angeles next spring.

I watched STRANGERS ON A TRAIN when I went back down. It's always been one of my favorite Hitchcock films, long before I ever read how it was regarded by critics. The set pieces and moody moments the film has are still singular achievements. And it's the perfect length, too.

The version on this TCM budget priced release is the American version. The British version was not offered as a bonus or an alternate.

There is a compilation audio commentary with all kinds of participants. The stuff with Andrew WIlson talking about Patricia Highsmith's career and about the changes from book to film were particularly memorable. Of course there are the usual suspects in it, too: Pat O'Connell and her three daughters, Peter Bogdanovich, Robert Osborne, Richard Schickel.

There is also the trailer.

Then I watched tonight's MODERN FAMILY. Not as hilarious as some other previous episodes, but I certainly had several very hearty laughs.

I had some time so I watched the bonus features for I CONFESS: a making-of documentary (with Jack Larson talking about friend Monty Clift), a one minute newsreel with the premiere in Canada, and the trailer.

Tomorrow I'll be watching I CONFESS and THE WRONG MAN so I can finish up this review before the other review materials arrive.

Last night we finally watched WHITE COLLAR.  Thank you DR Matt H.

We also watched the excellent CASTLE Halloween episode. :)

I'm so glad you liked them. So did I.

Keith did too :)  If it hadn't been for you we would have missed WHITE COLLAR.  I really had no idea what it was about, never even heard of it until you mentioned the pilot was on & the reviews were good.

I'd heard about the showin LA (and will probably go) but the other I believe is something involving Eric Schaeffer but that's 2nd hand info...

I must write up STRANGERS ON A TRAIN (briefly), so I'll close up shop here and get started on that.

Good night!

Eric's rather overrated, in my opinion, but the DC folk think he walks on water.

OH! Bryant Park Grill.  -Nice space. -I wonder if they'll be setting up the outdoor deck for you guys and/or opening up the roof area.

*And if anyone wants to crash the opening night party, at least we all now know where it is. ;)

With Contract’s Help, Carnegie Crew Draws Big Pay

"...The men — Dennis O’Connell, properties manager; James Csollany, carpenter; John Goodson and John Cardinale, electricians; and Kenneth Beltrone, carpenter — were identified on Carnegie’s tax return for the 2007-8 season as being the hall’s leading five earners after its top executive, Clive Gillinson. Their annual compensation ranged from Mr. O’Connell’s $422,599 (with an additional $107,445 in benefits and deferred compensation) to Mr. Goodson’s $327,257 (with $76,459 in benefits and deferred compensation), the return showed...."
