I skipped over the commentaries for the moment (there are four of them) and concentrated on the other bonus items. There are hours worth of material for the release, and some new to Blu-ray stuff about the sound design and allowing the user to play with the sound mix on his own.

When I go back down I'll give each commentary about a thirty-minute sampling.

Speaking of overboiling, DR Elmore, have you watched the Karl Bohm ELEKTRA yet?

I must shamefacedly admit no, DR Dan(theMan)! It's sitting here with 3 Netflix items. I'm pathetic.

Pah-leeze!  If you only knew the number of purchased dvds which sit unwatched--unwrapped!--in my library...

I suspect there are quite of few of us who can identify with that!!

Umm...yup. ::)

Back from a productive meeting at which I finally got the co-author to have an epiphany about the biggest problem in the show.  With one word he understood what was wrong with one of our leading characters and he knows now exactly how it has to be fixed.  It will fix so many problems once he's addressed the major problem with the character.

DR Francois thank you for the radio links. I shared them with my team. I wish these were archived or could be downloaded in some way!

I iz here, Jrand.

And speaking of autographs, Sally Todd's agent, who is a swell guy who I met in Burbank a couple of years ago, sent me Sally''s personally autographed photo as thanks for assisting the two of them recently.

He also included a personally autographed photo of one of his other clients, a Ms. Jane Russell! I was quite thrilled with both autographs, I must say.

He and Jane just returned from a 2 week tour of Europe where she was performing. He told me the turn out was spectacular!

Lovely!  Although I am not sure what Ms Russell would be performing.

I am watching Ms Doris Day being terrorized in MIDNIGHT LACE - in which EVERY ONE in the cast is lurking and slouching and no one is NOT a suspect....except of course the person it turns out to be.

The only safe bet is that is that is probably NOT Myrna Loy.

Today in Savannah they unveiled the Johnny Mercer statue on Eliis Square. Since the filmmaking team didn't really feel like the film was something to celebrate, and none of us went to the big Atlanta screening, most of us convened down here to Celebrate Johnny's birthday.

The highlight of the long presentation was when Ken Barnes premiered a new Johnny Mercer song: "You're In Savannah". These lyrics were never set to music; in fact it maybe have been a poem rather than a song, because Johnny also wrote poetry, but Ken was able to get Richard Sherman to set it to music. Then, since he's friends with Michael Feinstein, Michael recorded it with just him and his piano, and it was presented before the unveiling. It was a top secret thing because Dianne, who has done an amazing job organizing the Mercer events throughout the year, wanted to surprise Johnny's family members. So it was really special to be in Savannah the first time this song was heard by everyone!

My sister's boyfriend recorded the Johnny Mercer documentary when it was on a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to record it also.  He said that the broadcast wasn't in hi-def, even though he recorded it on the hi-def channel.  I don't know what that's all about. :-\

DR EDISAURUS this is most exciting.  I first saw MIDNIGHT LACE on Frances Farmer Presents and was certain that Roddy McDowell was the culprit.

I am sure Asslee Simpson will sing the new Mercer song on her next cd, once she ends her run in CHICAGO.  And of course as soon as her sister Jessica learned that Asslee would be appearing in CHICAGO, she flew there and started looking for Broadway. (courtesy Joel McHale and THE SOUP).

You can count on Myrna to know just what DoDo needed to calm her nerves, too!   A shopping spree and a martini!!!

Hey, maybe Asslee [sic] and Jessica could be in Chicago together!  I'll be siblings have never done the show...even though the characters are not siblings, it would make news.

I spent some time today dealing with house seats for FINIAN'S RAINBOW: 4 tickets on matinee Dec 26, and the major problem was tat one person, Barbara's mother, was in a wheelchair. It took a while to work it out, since the houseseats dept had questions on how i wanted to break up the tickets: the wheelchair in the wheelchair section and 3 in houseseats, 4 together, one wheelchair and companion and 2 in houseseats? Turns out the wheelchair can be broken down and the mother can be helped into a reguar seat, so I managed to get 4 houseseats with one in the aisle to make things easy for her mother.

She was at one point, but that was a long time ago.  She and her boyfriend have never gotten married...nor have they ever lived together.
