Most of us know how complex we ourselves are, but we sometimes forget how complex others are.  that is my feeling for today.

Today we got a nice review for FINIAN'S RAINBOW from John Lahr in this week's New Yorker magazine.

Found it online - very nice, indeed!

I also liked the "historic" episode on how Paddy's Bar in Philadelphia helped out the American Revolution.

Good Afternoon!

I thought a walk would help clear my head, but since it's gray and dreary outside, it didn't.  And the more I thought about what was said in the aforementioned email, the more certain other things popped into my mind.  Bleh! :-\

DR TCB - Well, I guess you could always do a Trans-Atlantic crossing if you'd like a string of "at sea" days in a row.  Thanks again for sharing your on-board and in-port adventures.

My grand piano is being tuned as I type.  I'm quickly growning tired of octaves, fourths and fifths.  :)

Why tune now when you'll be moving in a week or so :D

OK, I don't think my political preferences are especially secret, but even I am rolling my eyes over new MSNBC commentator Elliot Spitzer, especially when he is repeatedly labelled "Former Attorney General."  Do they think we have no memory?

Jose,

there is a line awaiting your posting of the cranberry-orange relish recipe.

Or is it TOP SECRET?

I've been looking for it, but can't seem to find it.  However, I believe it was either from "The Joy of Cooking" or an issue of "Better Homes & Gardens".  However...

I have made it before, it really is just oranges - including a generous amount of the zest - and fresh cranberries chopped and chopped and chopped - or just whirred together in a food processor for a bit.  Mint is optional.

Alas, after the email I received earlier today, I'm not sure now would be a good time to call my mother... :-\

In the meantime, here's a basic version courtesy of the New York Times:

Quote

1 bag fresh cranberries

1 whole navel orange, preferably organic, skin included, washed and cut into chunks

1/2 cup shelled pecans

1/3 cup mild honey, such as clover

Place all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse, then blend until you have a uniform, very finely chopped mixture with a crunchy texture. Chill until ready to serve.

Yield: Serves eight.

Advance preparation: This is best made on Thanksgiving Day, but if really pressed for time, you could make it a day ahead.

And, yes, you do process the WHOLE orange.  The bitterness of the rind is balanced out with the tartness of the cranberries and the sweetness of the orange flesh and juice (and honey or sugar).

Thanx - and I guess a splash of Grand Marnier won't hurt.

They could try and be "Fair and Balanced" and pair him with "Former Senator" Larry "wide-stance" Craig - one of your Idaho boys.

Had a lovelier than lovely lunch with Beth Malone.  Came back to yet one more e-mail requesting two minor changes for track titles - I ended up talking to the woman who is doing all this stuff, and I made the changes for her, even though I really didn't have to (the head of all this and I had agreed on everything this morning) - it seemed to make her happy, and I just asked that we now move forward swiftly to the only word I wish to hear: Approved.  I sent them the once-again revised inlay card, and asked them to approve as quickly as possible.  We'll see what happens, but I'm really hopeful it will be tomorrow.

I'm back from a trip to the Men's Chorus rehearsal to hear how the Appalachian Carols are progressing. I think they'll be fine.

Well... Maybe I won't be going through more boxes-of-stuff tonight. Although, right now, the thought of going to bed at 10:00 and waking up at 4:00 or 5:00 and getting some work done in the morning. Maybe.

My reporter friend JohnG will soon be joining us, I do hope. He will be a great addition to the crew, I believe.

THE CLOSER is showing that two-part Christmas special. It's wonderful but the outcome is really heartbreaking.

I watched two episodes of SUPERNATURAL on Blu-ray. One involved monsters who weren't supernatural at all. They were children of incest who had been surviving in the walls and basement of an old house. In some ways, it was scarier and creepier than the usual demons, witches, and ghosts that are a part of the series.

The next episode featured old magicians trying to make it in a world than was more about flash and big effects than the kind of magic they were used to performing. Barry Bostwick and John Ruberstein were the guest stars. (I believe John's son was also a guest star playing his dad transformed into a younger man.)

I skimmed through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The boys were on, and Noah was being even more impossible than in last week's episodes if that's possible. Ugh!

And I ended my evening watching most of the first half of GONE WITH THE WIND. Nope, not on Blu-ray. I don't have it (yet), but I enjoyed the older version just fine (for now).

A very quiet night on the internet, so I guess I'll pack my little bags and head downstairs to bed.

I'm exhausted.  Watching a really weird motion picture on Blu and Ray.  I began by watching the Blu and Ray of Pierre le Fout, but I realized I must have had and watched the Criterion DVD of this recently - the Blu looks much better.
