DR Matt H, I cannot confirm it on AfterElton, but I think Kyle and Fish are on ONE LIFE TO LIVE today. I thought I had read it a couple of days ago. They've got to set up the romantic triangle and have a bit of violence.

From what I read, they're going to be on five straight (pardon the expression) broadcast days: from Wednesday through next Tuesday.

Good! That means it begins today.

For the first time ever, I miss having a blu-ray player: there's a new release of MR MAGOO'S CHERISTMAS CAROL in the works. There was a big event last night at the Museum of Broadcasting.

Also, this from Michael Riedel. Oy!

...
GLEE has a new episode tonight, the penultimate one before the half season finale where the club goes to Sectionals.

Question about GLEE - I've missed the last 2 episodes and not even had time to watch them online.  Is there anything I should know before watching tonight's?

You've missed a raft of beautifully performed numbers (including last week's "True Colors"), but I can't think of any plot developments that have been earthshaking over the last couple of weeks. What conflicts were in the episodes were resolved by the end with the status quo resumed. I guess the biggest change at this point is that Quinn's parents, upon learning that she's pregnant, kicked her out, and she's now living with Finn and his mother.

I hadn't read about a potential MR. MAGOO Blu-ray, so I'll follow that information with interest to see if it goes anywhere. For a lot of my friends, it's their favorite Christmas-themed entertainment show and on Blu-ray might cause them to break down and buy a player.

Guess I'll head down now and have a sunny Christmas in Philadelphia. Then I'll fix some lunch and watch a SUPERNATURAL episode from Blu-ray while I eat.

Well they can say what want - and thanks to DR ELMORE for the Reidel link - the terrible BIRDIE is not Gina Gershon's fault.

well, he sure kicks Roundabout (the Bermuda Triangle of Good Musicals) whose attitude seems to be Got a Good Musical Needing Revival? We'll lose it!

I'm wondering if all the talk about Ragtime in that article is what prompted the virtual flood of tweets from @RagtimeOnBway09 this morning.

That's too bad about RAGTIME.  It's one of my favorite musicals.

I wish they'd make it into a movie.

That is so weird, because your post just reminded me I had the most convoluted dream last night about her--I think was her accompanist for something.

OK...

Andrea Bocelli is now on "The View" - with David Foster, of course.

The "set" is comprised of blue and green 'running lights' (I forget what they'r really called). -Even the grand piano is lined with them.  It actually looks like Mr. Bocelli might have "decorated" the set himself.  ::)

But, seriously, it's just an ugly set!

*And David Foster is playing piano(?)... Along with an orchestral track... With backing vocals and chorus... ???

I now have transportation again.....noiseless transportation!

And now I am off to do Monday things.  I know it is Wednesday!

My question for ASK BK Day!  What do you think is the most memorable Oscar Telecast moment....not necessarily an acceptance speech.....

PRESSURE POINT has some intense musical moments.

For the sheer camp of it, the Snow White opening number with Rob Lowe was amazing to watch.  And in the 1954 telecast I watched yesterday, which I forgot to write about in the notes, there is some absolutely hilarious tomfoolery between Bob Hope and Humphrey Bogart - brilliantly funny.

Good morning, all! I have a day to myself but most of it will be spent on the BABES IN TOYLAND report, which for reasons I'm not able to explain, may not be the final draft I actually submitted. I am not amused. I also have a trek to the Lincoln Center NYPL around noon to verify one footnote from The Chicago Tribune, March1904.

BK, Pasolini's obsession with Rome's ragazzi and his politics were major contributions to his violent death, but I can think of many artists - straight and gay - who put their obsessions into their art, so whenever he had a chance to include nude young men and women in his films, he took advantage of it. Were Andy Warhol, Paul Morrissey, and the young John Waters -  who seem to be the American equivalents of Pasolini in style and content, and criticism of the Catholic Church - so much different? They too got funding for their amateurish art as film makers. Pasolini's film THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST MATTHEW is quite beautiful, and one in which the amateurish performances of its nonprofessional actors adds to the film's simplicity. I also like his film of MEDEA with Maria Callas, although I rememberr thinking at one point, enough of the philosophy and politics; get to the story. When I first got to New York, the old Thalia at 96th and Broadway, where I first saw THE FIRST NUDIE MUSICAL, showed Pasolini's films regularly, and I got to see many of them. Some I enjoyed more than others. I also find Pasolini and Derek Jarman similar but I prefer Pasolini. Maybe the subtitles add to itheir charm?

Maybe I'll try to see some of the earlier films, and maybe having endured the disgusting, reprehensible Salo (not all of it - I shut it off) just put me off Pasolini forever, but I keep trying to find the art.  I never found Waters, who, while subversive, was always amusing and campy, in the same class as Pasolini.  I don't know that I've seen a Derek Jarman film.

bk, I don't think you'll like ARABIAN NIGHTS any more than CANTERBURY TALES. I haven't seen it in quite a long time, but I remember it being pretty violent. Many critics seemed to like it more than CT, but I didn't.

Oh, dear.  Wonderful as these look, they may have to go back.  Still, I'll give it a spin.

Hiya, kidz -

I had a wonderfully heartening chat with Jane last night - she sounded like her old self, I am happy to report. Even gave me the snarky laugh a few times. Of course, she had taken on of her mo-fo pain pills a scant hour before, so she was in much less pain. The dawg is Not Pleased at having to sleep in his own beddie on the FLOOR!!! but it is just too dangerous to have him up on the bed while Jane is asleep. Poor pupster!!

I'll be back later, with my own stuff...
