Hello again--
I just left DRelmore after seeing Brent! I never thought to take a photo to post (but I wouldn't have known how to anyway).
What can I say? Brent was terrific--I think he sang all the songs from the CD-but not in the same order. He also sang "They Say It's Wonderful" and a song I wasn't familiar with, "Romantic Notions," which was great. His encore was a song from "Dance a Little Closer" (in which he had a role), written in 1983. It's "Anyone Who Loves," from his Alan Jay Lerner CD. Brent mentioned how ahead of its time it was (it referred to two gay airline stewards who want to get married).
An older woman in the table in front of me seemed to really enjoy herself. I heard someone say that it was singer Julie Wilson, who I'm sure many of you are familiar with. I have to say I've heard of her, but don't know much else.
And Karen Ziemba, Kevin Spirtas and David Zippel were also there. I'm sure DRelmore can tell us who else he knew (he knows everyone!).
Brent told how the album was born. He said that he and Chris Denny happened to be at the same cabaret as Bruce Kimmel (Kevin Spirtas led the applause at the mention of your name, Bruce!) and Chris mentioned that he and Brent had talked about doing a Christmas album and Bruce agreed to produce it.
I had met Kevin Spirtas previously and asked him if he had seen DRelmore. He pointed him out so I went over to say hello. We had a really nice conversation. As I said, he knows everybody! And I didn't ask him for a million dollars (see his previous post)!
