And has nothing to say.  Did you listen to Love With The Proper Stranger?  You could say that, for example.

My copy did not arrive at my home today.  Maybe tomorrow...or Wednesday.

*It's also interesting to note that the actress playing Anne Egerman in the current revival, Ramona Mallory, is the daughter of the original Anne, Victoria Mallory, and the original Frid, George Lee Andrews.  -Who is still at The Majestic as one of the Mssrs. in The Phantom of the Opera Henrik, Mark Lambert.

**And as it turns out, I very briefly worked with both Victoria Mallory and her daughter, Ramona, about 22 years ago in Richmond.  They were part of a somewhat clumsy, hoping-to-be-an-annual-tradition show called "The Twelve Dreams of Christmas".  It practically re-defined the meaning of "Cheese". ::)

Ben looks very smart in his Kritzerland ensemble.

i figured, considering my condition at the time, i didn't need to send my address which i know you have (am i right? we didn't get any mail today).  i love the extra big shirt, i can wear it around the house or keith can wear it to the gym-there are always loads of people at the gym to see it.

No, you must send your address - if anyone hasn't, please do so so I can send out your surprise that's not a surprise.  Do NOT assume I have it - I may, I may not, but with this mail program I use it's too difficult to find things.  So, send addresses.

you need an easy to use contact list separate from your mailing program

Great idea - do it and send it to me :)

Or you could just cut/copy the addresses from all the emails that have been sent to you over the past week or so, and then paste them into Stickie or Word document.

Or - even easier - just create a new folder in Mail, label it "HHW Addresses", and drag the emails into there to save them on your computer for future reference.

DR JRand59, the funniest thing about Mr Nunn's revival: at the opening of Act Two Madame Armfeldt makes the comment about not letting the guests see them sitting on the floor. Then, because there's no dinner table, they eat dinner on the floor! And this is  said to be a "chamber" approach which might work in a 300 seat audiitorium but the Walter Kerr seats 931,  and this production charges a top ticket @ $350 with an "orchestra" of 8 players replacing Tunick's brilliant original. It's pathetic and I wish it to be a financial disaster.

Yikes!  I am scared now....why would anyone pay that much?

Blame The Producers.  "They" started the whole Premium Pricing trend(?), and it has stuck - even with shows that don't really have any "star power" in them.  *If you check the average ticket price over the next couple of weeks, you may notice a bunch of them hovering around the $125-130 mark.  $125 - plus fees - is the top ticket price now, but when they're selling Premium Seats in the $250-500 range, well... That certainly does bring up the average.  Also - and I believe this started with Jersey Boys, but I could be wrong - many shows now have "Special Holiday" pricing.  Instead of running $70-125, they range from $85-150 - and that's considered "regular" pricing.  Some shows also adjust the seating and pricing tiers on the weekends now.  It's amazing how far back the orchestra and front mezzanine sections go nowadays.

Etc., etc., etc...

Yadda, yadda, yadda...

*And I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm still quite surprised when I look at the regular tickets prices for some of the larger touring houses around the country.  The Kennedy Center Opera House in DC and The Pantages in Los Angeles have higher-priced "tiers" than Broadway houses.

Well... I guess you don't have any friends involved with the production.  Well... Actually, I think you do.  Or at least did.

And I cannot get the music of Joni Mitchell's The Circle Game out of my head, since that was the basis for the score to this film.  Yes, I'd hire Henry Mancini to write a score and then make him use The Circle Game as the main title and end title and then only allow him to score scenes in thirty second chunks.  Yes, that's what I'd do.

Oh, I think we ALL have handcuffs, even if we don't share that information with everyone.

I don't have handcuffs but I hear a certain famous composer-lyricist does. In fact, I know two handcuff stories I cannot tell in mixed company.

So how WERE the reviews for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC?

As previously mentioned, some good, some bad, leaning toward the bad.  It seems the deciding factor seems to be if you saw the original Broadway production.  A lot of my younger friends who have seen the show liked it a lot.  Some of my older friends who have seen it, well, not so much.

It's not on my "must-see" list, but if I happen to get offered a ticket, I wouldn't turn it down.

*And I'm still waiting to see if some sort of correction or clarification will be posted in The New York Times regarding Brantley's "fact oversight" in his review. ;)

Thanks, DRvixmom and DR TCB!

DRelmore:sorry to say I don't think Brent mentioned you.

Well, the time is running out on my computer at the posh Subway Sandwich Shop on 8th Avenue.  Gotta go!

But did he mention ME?

Yes, because he tells the story of how the CD came about. But you know, he thinks I only wrote a few things, so I'm negligible. I could have landed a lot of acts today and yesterday if he'd mentioned me. That show doesn't sound good just because 4 players sat down at music stands and jammed. But I'm not bitter.

DR elmore - Is there any sort of "re-use" agreement/arrangement in these kind of situations?  If Brent remounts this show, will you get any sort of royalty or residual?

I got the nicest email from Marc Acito today. He wrote this, BK: Did I mention that Jason Graae's "You've Got Possibilities" is on my  gym cardio mix? I can't get enough of that arrangement. Slays me  every time.

I won't tell Jason; his ego's big enough!

...Among other things.  But, again, as you are wont to say, that is a tale not be recounted among mixed company.

I have good news about my adopted son, Joshie: next Wednesday matinee, Dec 23, he will conduct his first performance of FINIAN'S RAINBOW. I've sworn to be there cheering him on.

Congrats to DAS Joshie!!

24 years ago, I wrote a 15-minute piece, "Appalachian Carols," for my dad, who was born in the Cumberland Mountain town of Fallsburg, Kentucky, 88 years ago today. I am back from hearing a Men's Chorus rehearsal  of itwith the band . Some it was very moving; the opening violin solo was magic, and there were lovely moments of singing from the soloists and chorus that moved me. Unfortunately, there were also a couple of rude surprises, like finding the conductor without consulting me had rewritten a vocal section to accommodate two more soloists. I was not happy when this was dumped on me tonight. We had a whole skirmish in September because the Chorus had illegally committed the copy of the manuscript I wrote in 1985 to Finale without alerting me, and in spite of my protestations, what they're performing is the original version and not my revised and published version of 1987.

I haven't decided how to handle all of this. I will fight for a reversion to what I wrote and I will give up enforving the 1987 ecition but i am not certain how this affects my continuation with the Chorus. Still, for about 30 minutes tonight, I celebrated my dad's birthday.

My goodness!  It's one thing to make changes to a piece of music when the composer is long gone, but to make changes when the composer is still alive and involved...well, that just takes some nerve! >:(

It wasn't as bad as Christianne Noll's dad Ron Noll rewriting large sections of DEAREST ENEMY behind mine and the R&H Organization's back in 2002 when he was in charge of the Village Light Opera Group! He was notorious for adding his "touches" to things.I'm lucky we heard as much of my restoration as we did.

And there have been a few charts I've played for her at auditions that have been "touched" by her father.  Surprise! -But fun to play at least.
