Well, you've read the notes, the notes were musical, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home in the key of G.

Just in case Vixmom pops in today:

I have noticed that Christmas is much more enjoyable the more I cut down on things. Like Christmas cards. And decorating (no more outside lights). And mailing packages (I now use Amazon).

For the past few years I have been following this advice.  It works wonders!      :)

Good morning, all!  I am awake and I am moving about the apartment. I have several things to accomplish today but I have not decided which options to take. I most definitely have to be at the Men's Chorus rehearsal in the Village tonight and I have some work this morning on THE MOST HAPPY FELLA to finish it up. I may end up at the NYPL around noon.

Movie stunts? Who can think at 7:30 am?

TOD:

Stunts today don't impress me that much, primarily because they are usually accomplished via cgi/green screen.

However, the one stunt sequence that has always stuck in my mind is the spectacular train robbery scene in HOW THE WEST WAS WON

I don't recall his name, but Yvonne De Carlo's husband, who was a stunt man on that movie, lost his leg as a result of an accident during that sequence.

Happy birthday, Tommy.

And breathtaking stunts on film? Harold Lloyd back in the days of the silents did some incredible stunts. Loved the wing dancing in "Flying Down to Rio" when I was a kid, and I still enjoyed it when I watched the movie a few weeks ago. In that tradition, there are the stunts, including a wing dancing scene, in "The Stunt Man," which remains my favorite movie about moviemaking.

My father would have turned 88 today; I've been thinking about him quite a lot in the past several days.

Speaking of family, I sent my brothers an email about the property over a week ago and neither one of them has responded.  I cannot believe that bitch Lady M didn't see it, so I am not certain what's with the silence.

Monday morning greetings!  Our household is just beginning to stir - everyone is still pretty tired from the festivities of the last several weeks.

I've toasted some pecans and the shortening is softening for me to make coffee cakes today - 2 for the AAUW silent auction tonight and one for my family.  Our house will be smelling good in a while!

DR Elmore - {{{{{Hugs}}}}} as you remember your father today.  Yesterday would have been Harriet's 93rd birthday and she's been on my mind a lot lately.

Monday!

I enjoyed the airplanes flying in HELL's ANGELS and THE HUNTERS.

I liked the car chase in WHAT'S UP DOC?

I like "Cary Grant" getting chased by the plane and then almost run over by the truck in NORTH BY NORTHWEST.

Good morning!

Foggy this morning, but it felt about 20 degrees warmer than previous mornings over the last few days. My walk was very enjoyable, but I felt half asleep doing it. I didn't want to get out of bed.

I meant to mention yesterday that I caught a few minutes of IN THE GOOD OLD SUMMERTIME on TCM-HD yesterday, and it looked stunning! Technicolor so gorgeous it made my teeth hurt, and a supersharp, dimensional picture that was just ravishing. I WISH I had had the presence of mind to record it so I could have watched it from the beginning. I'll keep my eyes out for a repeat.

I plan to work today. The movie is Mike Judge's EXTRACT on Blu-ray. It did terribly at the box-office and doesn't seem to have gotten very good reviews, but I'll make my own mind up later today. There doesn't appear to be a wealth of bonus material, so I may be able to finish it all this afternoon.

Notes on Tonight's TV:

Don't forget there is a new episode of THE CLOSER tonight.

CBS has an all-new slate of comedies and CSI: MIAMI.

NBC begins a new a capella singing competition tonight.

HOUSE is a repeat, but LIE TO ME is a new episode.

ABC has a Jennifer Hudson Christmas special on that's new, but CASTLE is a repeat.

I don't know if it qualifies as a stunt, but the theatre sword fight between Stewart Granger and Mel Ferrer in Scaramouche is still a stunning duel to watch.

I thought some of the stunts for Bruce WIllis in DIE HARD were pretty spectacular.
